I just started trying him out, and it SEEMS to me like he does an absurdly low amount of damage when built full tank or even with titanic hydra, in comparison to many other champions who also build full tank. I still haven't played him too much but based on my current experience with him, does he need a slight base damage buff?
That's why I prefer Grasp over CoC on him. Grasp gives him a little more sustain + a little extra damage.
no, shen is not weak. But he is also not strong in the same way as others. To play as shen you must know things about this game, many things about this game. Not to say you are bad but you could get to diamond without knowing some of the things you may want to know to do well as shen. Its different from simply knowing the basics. To do well as shen you will need strategy.
Also keep in mind that shen was originally designed to be a support tank even if they did change him up a bit, just like taric, alistar, or galio. He's also one of the most nerfed champions in this game. Older support tanks are the most nerfed champion type in the game actually or they used to be.
what made shen ''weak'' ( cause he is not THAT weak ) is the graps nerf and his Q nerf. before that he was hidden strong and a very few people knew that. His ultimate is one of the most op ultimate in the game...thats why his overall kit is kept weak.
Shen is still picked and banned in lcs as always.
You pretty much only use Shen for his flash+taunt combo (that's what the commentators said, I don't play top). He was used recently in a championship game though, which suggests that he is strong.
Shen is actually one of the few champions in this game that is balanced around pro-play. Right now he is in almost every pro game because while his laning is weak, his global ult makes him powerful in the hand of a coordinated team.
