Can I please say something about "balance" in League of Legends...
...I am VERY critical of Riot and their approach to multiple things, and I believe a LOT could be done "better" if the objective was to create a "competitive sport" rather than a profitable game (notably: the matchmaking system and the associated ranking system). So I am not a person generally very nice to Riot...
THAT SAID: the game is ridiculously WELL balanced! It is almost unbelievable that across MILLIONS of games, across hundreds of millions of relevant combinations of teams, across skill levels from "absolute beginner" to "14 hours a day professional", winrates of individual champs are considered "outrageous" if they hit 52%... I think we should stop complaining about "balance" because we have individual issues that we cannot play well against.
There are issues to work on if League is going to be THE premier eSport (including the "amateur level", which is solo queue - oh no wait, not "solo", "solo and duos"), but it is NOT balance. Balance is surprisingly good, considering all the factors that need to "be" balanced.
