Letter to Riot, why are you pushing the LoL meta to the late game. (Respond Riot)

Dear riot,

I have just one question for you. Why are you trying to make LoL so late game oriented. Please correct me if I am wrong but I have made the following observations.

tl; dr : read bold text

Dragon doesnt give gold

The number 1 way to further your lead, gone. Actually managed to get a double kill bot? Who the fuck cares, the enemy team has a scuttle crab, and dragon wont give you gold anyway.

Buffing Towers

Over the past few months, Riot has done all they can to make towers these unstoppable castles that wont go down. They have buffed their attack speed (without putting that into the patch notes), their HP, their attack damage, and more. It has gotten to the point where tower diving is almost 100% impossible at early levels, even if you have flash. On top of that, as long as the loosing team hugs a tower, they WILL WIN any teamfight and will drag out the match to the late game.

Gutting Early Game Junglers

We have seen it happen so many times over the past few months (RIP Evelynn LeeSin Shaco Evelynn ). Every early game Jungler has been nerfed to the point where they are almost not worth playing anymore. Heck, they even outright took away eve's early game capability and made her scale into the late game. Now that most junglers have to either afk farm, or wait until 6 to get a decent gank off, the lane phase has much more room for error. Those early ganks are not happening as often, so the tide of the game is not really being shifted in 1 teams favor.

Scuttle Crab

In preseason 5, we will see the new jungle camp, scuttle crab. What it does is it awards the team who kills it, 100% vision of dragon / baron respectively, and the river surrounding it. Now assuming blue team gets the baron crab, and red team gets the dragon crab, NO GANKS ARE HAPPENING EARLY GAME. The river is 100% warded, no more tri-bush ganks, no more river ganks. The only way to gank is from the tower, and lets be honest.. how often does that work? It would be better to just farm the OP jungle camps, which I will get to next.

Stronger Jungle Camps and Less Pots

Over the past year, riot has been taking away the amount of pots you can buy in an attempt to force junglers to back early. This in itself is not a problem. But in season 5 we will be aloud only 2 pots, and jungle camps are about x3 stronger than they are now. This means you have to back at least once in order to clear your red / blue, not to mention the HP you will loose contesting scuttle crab... Its going to take junglers much more time to actually get strong enough to gank without feeding their buffs, and even longer to clear boths camps to get off a decent gank. Once again, less impact in the early game, encouraging late game.

Jungle Items no longer give bonus stats

This one was kind of already covered, but with no bonus stats on jungle items, its going to take junglers a very long time to get strong enough to sustain in the jungle while also being strong enough to gank. Junglers will be backing so often just trying to clear camps, ganks will rarely happen before 8-10 mins.

Tower Range Increased

Correct me if im wrong, but in season 5 towers will have a pretty substantial range boost. This once again just makes it harder to take them early game, and encourages 5v5 sieges, this will be the nail in the coffin for early - mid game tower diving.

THanks for taking the team to read, I hope riot gives me a response to answer me questions. In the mean time, lemme know what you guys think.

It seems to me that they aren't necessarily trying to push for longer matches, but are trying to make it where a team who gets behind too much still has a chance. You look at Dota 2, and if you lose 1 teamfight and Roshan mid game, you just FF right there; it's so bad that they forfeited the last two championship matches because the impossibility of a comeback, and gave up 3.5 million dollars. Idk about you, but I don't want a game where I'd pass up that much money because one team could easily gain an insurmountable advantage in 2 minutes.

But here is the thing, I do agree with that your saying. But the way riot is setting things up, no team will actually gain that advantage in the first place.

Seems like they just want to reduce gank junglers and increase the importance of vision, which seems alright to me. ill wait to get on the pbe before making judgement calls.

Keep in mind that champion scaling per level is drastically increased with these changes as well as the fact that these changes are highly experimental.

As far as the whole big picture goes I think you guys are right, the whole of the changes makes breaching the base noticeably more difficult, but I disagree with you that an advantage will never be had. Look at baron buff and inhibitor timers. Inhib respawns are increased by a full minute and baron buff is specifically tuned for sieging, not just a general power boost. "Cracking the egg" by taking down an inhib will have a LOT more significance, but at the same time the defending team will still have a chance to comeback because Baron Buff will only give a decent minion boost and an enhanced recall.
