If you were gonna take a Melee Carry bot, which would you choose? (For-fun post)

So League has a small number of melee-carry champions, aimed at doing what Marksmen do but up close and personal. With the way League is designed, they usually get played in solo lanes or Jungle rather than down bot, due to the prevalence of ranged hard carries.

I've occasionally experimented with taking melee carries down bot, and wanted to see if anybody had ever done the same. My thoughts:

Fiora -So, personally I've found Fiora to be an overall poor choice for this kind of thing overall. Spell dependent, mana hungry early, and preferring to power her ultimate rather than her auto-DPS, Fiora needs levels to function optimally, which she doesn't get as many of in a duo. Her burst is decent and between her passive and her W she can somewhat manage trades, but overall she works better 1v1 (from my experience, anyone that has experience otherwise please feel free to share.)

MasterYi -His early lane presence outside of clever Alpha Strike shenanigans is somewhat limited due to high mana costs, and his sustain is more of an emergency button than a stay-in-lane tool. However, his early damage with his E and a prepped double strike can be surprisingly high, he goes ham when he hits 6, and he snowballs really hard, so he's not the worst.

Tryndamere -Probably my preferred choice overall. Manaless does wonders, his Q sustain is pretty good, his E lets him either engage or disengage fairly well, and his W is underrated in early exchanges. When he hits 6 he's an all-in nightmare for softer targets too. Snowballs like hell.

Yasuo -Probably who many people think of for this, but I don't think he shines here. His early game is absolutely non-existent and he's a wimpy, easy to kill bitch early because of all the nerfs. Windwall isn't great in lane due to the long cooldown and his shields aren't much.

No Gangplank?

You disappoint me.

fiora is awsome, ysuo isn't bad either, but not that great in a 2v2 early on.Carry-xin works best for me, good sustain, insane early all-in, potential to insta kill anyone later while pushing away the rest with your ult..

I'd take Fiora for her burst. As long as I got a decent support (usually I would premade for this), an assassin should be able to delete a squishy adc early.

I would still say Yasuo, as long as you lane him with Janna. Her early peel and pseudo-sustain can make up for his early. And ult setups.

Anybody with a ranged way to farm.

Basically GP and Yasuo.

I'm pretty sure I've played as Urgot Support to a Trynd adc. This was back before I really knew much about the game (although even then I knew this was not standard).

I think I'd be tempted to go with Irelia, though. I'd also consider Riven or Talon though.

EDIT: Yasuo's early game may not be great, but with a Malphite support? That just sounds fun.

I played a Yasuo ADC / Kalista Support lane in normals and it worked very well. I built full AD as Kalista but we had nice synergy and my poke was enough to dissuade heavy poke on my carry.

Kal ult + Yas ult was a sight to behold.

I've occasionally experimented with taking melee carries down bot, and wanted to see if anybody had ever done the same. My thoughts:

I've tried it a few times, though as a support main I've run into such shenanigans more than I've tried it out.

You can't fall behind at all, at any time, during the lanning phase to make a melee carry work there. You're mostly even in zonning potential when you're ahead, and you pretty much can't CS if you fall behind (and your opponents know what they're doing).

You just...loose all presence in the map if your lane opponent can bully you, freezing your lane far from the tower and forcing you into a dangerous position to get clobbered with CC and then pew-pew-pew-global exacted if you step a little to close when in EXP range.

Also - a lot of fighter/assassins are amazing duelists and awful team-fighters, and are really hard-countered by heavy CC and peel, and you don't run into heavier CC and peel than you do with supports, so you're not in good shape if you run into an aggressive support as such a champion. A lot of fighter/assassins mainly only win lane if they force a duel on their opponents as well, so not good news there.

All that said:

Gangplank is pretty solid. GP doesn't run into the same zonning issues as most other melee champions if he ever slips up, as he's effectively got a 625 range auto for the purposes of 1 hit and run tactics or farming, and he can clear an entire wave from base without needing to be there if you try ninja-pushing him. He's surprisingly effective at defending turrets and CSing early on.

GP's ability to remove all (most) CC effects on him with a QWE and heal him is also pretty solid against the CC heavy bot-lane champs. Pretty depressing when you land something on him that means 99.99% guaranteed death against any other squishy and he just eats an orange and is k.

GP also isn't 100% designed to be a 1v1 champion, his AD/MS steroid that he buffs his support with is actually really, really scary when you consider how strong a lot of supports actually are early.

Gangplank seems to be by far the most reliable champion to pull this with. He also doesn't suck in sieges and team stand-offs where marksman tend to have a huge edge over melee ADCs in.

You don't.

You will be zoned to oblivion by marksmen and won't be able to do anything but give kills.

Or in Fiora's case just sit there and look pretty.

Darius Garen , this botlane combo is soooooooo annoying to play vs they both get a targe so they can regen a lot. If darius grabs you, you will be silenced and they will spin you to death. IIF you happen to escape you are still bleeding and possibly ignited.
