I hate the stigma against playing meta champions.

I see it all the time. I see people say, "You wouldn't make it to X rank if you didn't abuse Fiora." or Draven or Ivern or whatever. It's like people think you're less of a player because you played a specific champion.

Here's why that's a really bad mindset to have. 1 - League rank is determined by a combination of every skill you have. Your roaming, your lane dominance, your strategy, etc. You wouldn't flame someone like, "Wow you only won because I have my T2 runes and you have T3s you scrub." That's basic preparedness. Same thing with learning to play good champions. That's an extension of strategy. Beating your head against a wall playing a bad/mediocre champion and then blaming someone else for playing someone good is as silly as, again, blaming your disadvantage in runes.

2 - Learning new champions encourages flexibility. Yeah, they're sometimes braindead champions. Sometimes they cause you to tear your hair out, but the greatest trait you can have in League is flexibility. Being able to cover for your team and shore up their weaknesses is crucial and it helps curb toxicity. If there's anyone I can't stand in League it's OTPs because they strain you to build the game around them more than anyone else. ESPECIALLY if they don't get their main role/champion.

3 - Champions become strong at the most random times. I love playing Viktor. I don't because he's ba right now and I enjoy winning games, but I've been playing him since Season 4, before he even got his rework. I wasn't suddenly some no-skill prick because the champion I like got strong, but that's what every anti-meta enthusiast would have you believe. Let's look at a more recent example. Is Tyler1 an ass because Draven is one of the strongest champions in the game? No. Everyone knows Tyler1 is an ass because he's an ass. Blaming his behavior or skill on a champion does little to address any real issues, the most serious of which is inflexibility. Ability to only play 1 champion is more of an issue than whether or not the champion is good.

So to recap, if you can only play something ungodly strong like Nunu and you're way too high in elo to play anything else without costing us the game, then we might have a bit of a problem.

However, if you're a jungle main and you play Warwick, Nunu, and Zac, I don't hate you man. That's a silly sentiment to have against a person. Especially over something as trivial as a game of League.

I think your more upset about yourself or being a bandwagon sheep.

You feel bad for abusing the Draven freelo and it triggers you when someone points it out.

All jokes aside.....I hate when my champions become meta. I havent touched Jayce since s6 world's. I won't be touching Draven till you move on.

I played 1 ranked game with Draven in season 6, zero this season. Try again.

If you have to know, I irregularly play with pros and regularly play with high level streamers and the like. I have this opinion from talking to them and hearing the things they have to say.

They talk about why champions are good, why you play them, how to climb, learning to be flexible, etc. And most often, they talk about how stupid the anti-meta sentiment is.

There's definitely something to learn from them if you decide you want to stop being stubborn about the champions you play.

It does add a little more merit when someone plays a said champ when he isn't strong. That is, he has to try a little harder than usual with champ A than B because B is meta and therefore "easier" to win with, while champ A is not.

I mean, why do you think people who have been maining off-meta champs are quite popular, especially in high elo?

I personally see nothing bad about playing meta champs. The meta is typically changing due to either Riot changing it with buffs or nerfs or players figuring out counters. That means that the best players and the people that consistently do well are adaptable and good at a variety of Champions.

If people refuse to play meta then they are simply putting themselves at a disadvantage. Especially if they also choose really weak champs. That is a part of the game whether or not people chose to accept it.

I have no problem with playing meta champions. The problem that i have is that riot and a good portion of the current community care more about the results of the game, than the actual fucking gameplay. They let shit like snowballing run rampant just to end games faster, just so that you can get to the results screen faster.

Even if it's the same results, i'd rather have 30 minutes of enjoyment for a 40 minute loss, than generally 10 minutes of enjoyment for a 20 minute loss.
