SUPPORT MAINS: why you started to play support and why you love it?

Jack Garrus·3/20/2018, 10:18:41 AM·2 votes·2,012 views

I will answear to both the questions in a list:

  1. queue time almost inexistent
  2. I started to play Nami because she was free but then I found out that her role was the support
  3. I love putting the sticks in the wheels to the enemies who try to kill the members of my team without succeeding (most of the time)
  4. It's fking relaxing - after a frustrating day at work it's a blessing to frustrate enemies ( <3 Lulu Sona )
  5. A support is always useful: a support in disadvantage can still shield, heal, engage (dying), disengage and activare item 3107 item 3190. An adc, a mid etc in that disadvantage just make loosing the game

I would like to read your reasons! Don't say autofill.

tbh, i was still new to the game and was trying adc (not too good)...then i saw an enemy supp use Janna 's Q. TORNADOES..I CAN FIRE TORNADOES? I'll take 10.

Then I realized, I liked the game enough to keep playing but I suck at CS...yes I admit it...so supp or jg. JG seemed too "labor" intensive for my older brain/hands, and I liked the first few supps I played Soraka Zilean Morgana Sona . I ended up maining Morgana , since I was good at hitting skill shots if nothing else. Eventually after "maining" about 5 diff supps, I ended up getting a Haunted Zyra skin in an early S chest. I had always been curious about her plant mechanic, so I bought her and she has been my main since right before she got semi popular with her Worlds 2016 play.

edit : just realized I talked more about my champs and not why i still play. I've never been a leader. I always liked the right-hand-man kind of role so supp kinda fits me. I also like being able to constantly look around the mini and keep an eye on baron/drag/etc timers for the team without having to focus on cs. and since my twitch skills aren't great, i'd rather buff an ally that I know knows how to move

on a side note : i feel naked without wards (i hate that sightstone is delayed if you have a bad start, and that you cant buy it if you get an early kill...but it has taught me to play smarter without the early vision, AND i can get boots, dagger/coin (i dont do tanks much) upgrade right away.

  1. No one else did back in the day. 2)Of the two botlane options, support is the one I dislike the least.

I found it generally fun sometimes, it's not always about being carried by your team how most people assume since you carry them as well by protecting them.

As for why I love it is that, a good support can have a massive impact early game with a good strategy. In addition I find a lot of support champions fun, my favourite being the banana godess herself: Soraka

I don't main support anymore, but when I did, these are the reasons I liked it:

1: I was never the highest priority target, and I was good at keeping said high priority targets alive. 2: Saving someone's ass from a fed assassin was always fun. 3: It was a stress reliever; just sit back and say 'lol don't touch' to the enemy team. 4: I love playing the vision game. Back when Tracker's Knife still existed, I would never buy anything else, and before that, I would buy Sightstone on junglers. Supports have the easiest access to vision control, in part because they don't need to function on a more expensive budget like the rest of the team, so I could light up the important parts of the map like it was a christmas tree if I really wanted to. I was never without a Ruby Sightstone, Oracle's Lens, and multiple pink wards on hand during the mid game. 5: I always thought the support items had the most satisfying actives (before the mage rework brought us protobelt and glp). Pick someone to get out of a Veigar cage? Love it. Launch two slowing ghosts at them? Take my gold. Have an MR Aura that gives a shield? I'll take it! (rip old Locket).

To make that "one" play

  1. I started playing League with my brother and it really eased me knowing I wasn't going to get flamed.
  2. Later on down the road, I main'd Blitzcrank and it felt amazing saving my dying Mid-Laner from Teemo's Poison with item 3190 (Happened a lot of times really)
  3. I like controlling the map with wards
  4. When my ADC dies, I really enjoy making sure they don't get tilted for their mistake. (Sometimes I get flamed so I just say sorry and move on)
  5. Knowing that if my ADC does bad, I can actually do something about it instead of watching them from top or mid and watch them fall behind (Along with our support)
  6. it helped me become a better leader so I love playing support.
  7. The role never gets old for me, unlike Mid or Jg.

I found nami fun asf.

then I started duoing with a midlaner who always camps top, because he trusts me enough to make sure me/my adc don't feed (which is usually what happens when he soloques)

Two reasons I play support:

  1. I hate CSing.
  2. I like teamfighting.

Two reasons I don't always play support:

  1. Sucks to rely on other people to do the actual killing.
  2. I play based on champions I like, and they're not always a good fit for support. The only traditional supports I really like are Leona and Thresh, and in Leona's case I'd honestly much rather just play Sion.
NekoniClaws3/20/2018, 4:58:49 PM1 votes

My duo introduced me to the game with support... I found Leona after a couple months:

What I love: Nonstop action, high playmaking ability, being able to coordinate with my premade, being able to roam and control the map, and getting into the middle of the enemy team with tank sups.

I find top + jungle WAY too quiet. Mid's OK. ADC is good and I prefer utility ADCs.

I like to be hyper protective of my team and right now I'm having more fun in support than I am top (sorry Yorick ;-;) There is just some satisfaction to an ally being within an inch of their life and you just slurp then up and walk off Pick Braum against Zoe, let allies get sleeped, trust me, it's hilarious I am actually able to climb because I honestly suck at carrying
