I really like this upcoming patch.

I'll summarize it for you.

-Mage item update is neat, 3-4 new items -SPOOKY GHOSTS IS BACK -Buffs to toplaners (including an incredibly appropriate name for a Jax bugfix) and nerfs to Gnar -Nerfs to Trist and Twitch -Rengar partial revert -hard nerfs to Zoe -slight assassin buffs -Removing trackers -nerfs to tank supports

  • Wit's End gets 42 MR again, and nerfs for ranged champions -Precision mastery changes that make PtA a little more useful in 1v1s and less so in 2v2s and splits the bonuses you get from your secondary tree -Get rekt Stopwatch and the Inspiration tree in general -Blast Cones spawn later -Baron and Elder get significant buffs if they're taken 40+ minutes into the game. -Bone Plating is now in the game as well

Honestly, I've been saying this for a while. As much as Riot might sometimes fuck up, they definitely do a lot more for the players than Boards realizes. They're working on getting rid of some of the biggest problems in top lane, including Frozen Mallet and how easily top can be surprise ganked, giving bruisers better damage options (including PtA and Wit's End changes), and they're making it so you can get AS + AD on champions like Darius. They also saw how much people didn't like the snowballing into a victory so they made Baron and Elder decisive ONLY if it's the second Elder or Baron is taken 40+ minutes into the game (at which time the games really do need to start ending, getting locked into a 50-60 minute game because Elder/Baron can't stop the enemy from stalling isn't fun). Stopwatch got nerfed because of how safe it was to make absurd dives in solo queue and keep people safe in pro play. And on top of that, Spooky Ghosts has returned.

Oh yeah and Rengar mains get their champion back.

The only thing that's missing is a bruiser-specific keystone and I think they said that's coming in 8.5 or 8.6.

A lot of good changes in here for pro players and high elo (good riddance Zoe) but there's also a lot of stuff for low elos and as much as I think that's the wrong approach to take I do respect it. Ya'll should give Riot a little more credit for how much work they put into balancing their balance changes for every tier of play.

you forgot:

kalista nerfs ornn nerfs gangplank nerfs xin and shyvana nerfs

but your post can't reach the boards's logic, according to them balance team is getting paid for doing nothing

Im just sad that they listen to complaints that much to make money or something tbh hehe

Ahristocats4 votes

yea

because people legit complained about kalista

oh wait, it's more the fact that she was dominant in challenger/lcs

Diamond2Kappa2 votes

Well after being 80-100% pick/ban since 7.13. Meanwhile good luck playing Darius or mid assassins in high elo even if Darius is getting buffed because hard to play champs like Taliyah Ryze Gnar and GP/Camille arent gonna dominate low elo and make people complain :]

Not at all This darius buff makes his 1v1 insane

i'm going to pick him into melee matc ups (even camille) and split push 24/7

i agree with you it's impossible to teamfight as a melee in high elo, but you can always splitpush

Diamond2Kappa3 votes

We will see I guess. Tho the problem is, if Darius is ever as strong as Camille is rn, he would probably get nerfed instantly. Literally like the strongest champ in the game but I dont see anything for her this patch.... Looking at Camille stats in Bronze https://i.gyazo.com/49b271f17c003e38115ccf6da6acc3a8.png coincidence? hehe

kalista is now a bouncing machine gun

So according to you they're doing something, but ADCs are still running around bursting people down with right-clicking and that seems fine to you? This patch does nothing about the extreme snowballing and ADC dominance in this game.

It solves none of the major issues. Individual champs being OP is the least of this game's problems. But hey, I don't expect rito fanboys to see the bigger picture here.

Yeah, i must admit, this patch is looking good. My hope somewhat has been restored, especially with the new key-rune/keystone on the PBE.

[NEW] Conquerer (Precision Keystone) "[EXPERIMENTAL] After 4 seconds in combat, your first attack against an enemy champion grants you 10 - 60 AD, based on level, for 4s and converts 20% of your damage to champions to True damage for the duration. Melee Only: Damaging enemy champions refreshes this buff."

I am happy for the patch, but what I really want is Leblanc to pop up on the PBE. Fingers crossed she actually makes it this time.

nm10101 votes

Thank you! I am going to be spamming the pbe client now to see if it makes it xD

Surr@20 is checking atm so I'd keep a close eye there

They most likely won't change her that much because they are still considering what they want to do with her when it comes to her rework.

Still not sure about the ap item update tbh, to me nothing looks nearly as strong as Morello + Liandrys was except champs that abuse the mana like Ryze. but i guess ill main kai sa now anyway so i wont have to put up with ap items anymore hehe

Tristana's jump still not nerfed. It's just an insanely broken spell because it is still casted even if the Trist got stun 2 secs before she hit the damn button. It's just a "panic button" that is equivalent to a Cleanse + Jump with low CD. It's just completely bugged. Someone from Riot modified very sneakily this spell internals and made it broken last season or so... because it wasn't bugged and op like this before. I really hate Riot Games when they let things like that in the game as if it wasn't important... It is an absolutely game breaking mechanism, even if it looks minor. (That's a partial conclusion of 1 full month of playing 20/games day.)

I like it too, but it'll take a lot more for me to come back.

So people will shut up about the whole bot lane thing ?

xelaker1 votes

I don't ride that band wagon, but they didn't really do much for bot lanes power lol. top and mid got some treats, bout it though

Swarovsko1 votes

Same I'm loving it. I might start spamming my beloved Lux Veigar Syndra mid lane champions with the new ap changes

I like the general direction of the patch, but there a few things that I find questionable. That's pretty much how I find most patches

Gonna see people trying Support Orianna, Support Nidalee (Most likely still won't work), and anyone else who had mana issues and cdr standing in the way soon.

xelaker1 votes

ori can work aight nid is gonna be real hit and miss though

I'm just curious how the nerf to AP values is going to shake out for the lategame. Cautiously optimistic the actually useful passives will make mages better early and scale better into late, but only cautiously optimistic.

Śhunpo1 votes

The only thing I dislike about the update is the AP (more like mage) itemisation changes.

I'm not the biggest fan of this update because Ornn is being nerfed when he really didn't need it (imo since his ult is actually quite easy to shut down). I never see him picked except when I pick him.

I feel like I'll probably only play him support now since he's losing tons of damage (including his shockwave damage from his E) and is getting a major cooldown increase on his w. The only decent thing is the increase on his shield. As support I at least can CC quite often still and setup kills for others.

I personally feel like characters like Nasus needed the nerf more than him. Considering how Nasus can infinitely stack and if the match lasts long enough then he can basically 1v5.

As for the tracker knife changes eh, idk... from what I heard it works great for some junglers and absolutely craps on others but I haven't been able to test it myself, I imagine I'll adapt to it regardless like I did with support items. Shyvana is apparently still quite strong even after her nerf.
