I love you CertainlyT <3 You are the best champion designer!

Hi,

I see a lot of toxic comments targeted at CertainlyT when it comes to champion design and gameplay. 90% of these comments are made by unranked/low elo people. CertainlyT, you have brought massive joy and entertainment to my time in League of Legends! My top 2 favorite champs of all time are Zed and Yasuo , even after all the nerfs they got, through thick and thin, I've kept playing these two champions! There is something about them, the gameplay, the style, the lore, the feels when you do one of those rare godly outplays! Thank you for making such amazing and fun to play and fun to play against champions! I can truly relate to these two champions :) I played some Ekko games and dominated, he is very strong, some say overpowered, but I got bored of him pretty quickly and came back to your champions! Out of the other champions you designed, I also enjoy playing Darius and Thresh , even though I rarely play support. I've never tried Kalista since i never play Marksman position and also never tried Zyra .

Keep up the great job man and I hope to see another champion designed by you soon <3 I really love and appreciate your work!

Either this post is trying too hard to make satire but fails or OP really doesn't know what balance means in this type of genre and is frankly, playing and expecting the wrong game.

Sorry, but the only bearable champ CertainlyT has ever designed for me is Darius, after his initial rampage that is. Zyra is on the borderline of my tolerance somewhat but I guess it's still cool, however everything else he has shatted out are complete nonsense to say the least.

I know a lot about balance and this genre of game ;) certainly more than you do.

You're certainly quick to pull out the rank card, this is my first season to ever rank (well technically second time, I played 1 or 2 provisional matches before), after 4+ years or so of playing that is.

I got S3 after provisionals, played 3 games more and just quitted. Ranked is not my thing.

But that doesn't mean I don't LoL.

Cry more and make more excuses, doesn't change your rank.

Ignore Sekai, he doesn't even play this game anymore APPARENTLY.

While not everyone agrees with CertainlyT, he's definitely a good designer and the champs he makes are undisputably fun. A lot of synergy or plays within the kit - it just turns out the numbers are (way) out of whack in terms to what the kit offers.

He would be a great designer if he is working for say Runic Games on the Torchlight project for example,

But not so much when we're talking about LoL, he is looking at this type of games in a wrong way.

because we need more warwicks or aatroxs running around in the game, with kits so uninspired, I almost feel like killing myself because they're so damn depressing.

Now, while numerically speaking, CertainlyT champs have been far-left of field, their kits had clear goals and synergies that were unique. The biggest problem with League has been "why play X when Y does the same, but better?" Lately, Rito has been turning that on it's head and starting to make radically different champs.

Still got a long way to go.

CertainlyT doesn't solve the issue, he only brings that to a new level.

Before it was 5 groups of champs where everyone from the same group would appear similar. But if we assume that CT takes over Riot one day, the entire roster would simply become 1 group of champ where everyone is evenly overloaded and all do the exact same thing.

Tell we which one is at least better in your opinion.

I have stated it many times somewhere else before and I will say it again.

  • There is a limit on how overloaded a champ should be in this type of game.
  • There should be pre-defined weaknesses instead of relying solely on the players' mechanical fault to play against them.
  • Champs should have restrictions on what they can do, and what they simply can't, that's the point of having this title as a team game in the first place.
  • The amount of synergies a champ could have should be limited, infinite possibility sounds great on paper, but when we translate that into actual practice in a competitive game it would only spell out broken.
  • LoL isn't an ARPG nor is it a fighting game, mechanical and game skill should both exist and not only favour just one. Twitchy fingers isn't the end of the skill in this game.

The fact that you're defending CT designs suggests the opposite, and I can't believe you've looked at ANY other game in the genre and decided that something CT designed would fit in there. Only league gets away with his way-too-many-passive-ridden, swiss army knife kits.

Is that champion fun to play as? I bet. Are they fun to play against? No.
Is windwall/lantern/kalista ult a cool ability? Yea. Does it belong on a kit with double crit/ranged on-hit harass/limitless hops? No. Would more CT champs add diversity to the game? Honestly, I think not - everyone would just become good at everything, without meaningful weaknesses.

"The fact that you're defending CT designs suggests the opposite, and I can't believe" no rational argument, saying something doesn't make it right, also, I don't care what you believe, you are silver, clueless about how the game works, didn't read the rest of your comment lol.

Mandang03 votes

Your argument is no more rational than mine, we've both expressed opinions.

'saying something doesn't make it right' - my sides! What, are we going to discuss the color of grass now?

..and then you pretend like you didn't read the rest of it so you don't have to address it... aww, so cute when you're flustered.

And, once again, when you don't have any counterargument you just reach for MMR as an escape.

Arsames1 votes

Still posting silver troll? LOL. Get decent mmr, then I might care about your posts and irrational hate for CertainlyT until then I just look at you like a child crying about his candy.

Yes, you clearly know so much. Rank has nothing to do with understanding balance.

Oh really? If you need health care in real life, do you go to a doctor or a street cleaner? You go to those with the knowledge and skill. The higher the rank in league, the better you are at the game, this includes, game knowledge and a lot more. Stay mad, Rank is important ;)

You actually study and take tests in order to get such careers, last I checked, that wasn't a requirement for reaching plat+. You do not have to understand anything, all you have to do is be good at the champion you are playing and make good decisions.

There's nothing for me to be "mad" about anyways, seeing as your mmr isn't much higher than mine to begin with.

That analogy makes no sense. They're not even in the same field of work. It's like saying "if you want to get better at MOBAs would you ask a League player or a fucking banana."

That analogy makes perfect sense. Higher elo/rank = better knowledge and skill about the game. A doctor has higher elo/rank when it comes to medicine and healthcare, than a street cleaner.

You haters all are the same, claiming rank is not important, while being low ranked and playing low mechonix champ.

Play high mechonix champs and then I might care.

I really hope he's joking because Kalista is to me what cancer is to a dead person who died of cancer. If you have no gap closers have fun trying to catch her. All they need to do to fix that is make the dash length affected by slows.

Arsames1 votes

Well, I've never played Kalista , but I've played against her and you need to approach her differently than you do most Marksmen. She has great mobility, but weak damage and no ultimate without her support near. Flank her or outdamage her in a short period, before she can hop away. She isn't that hard to deal with imo :)

You do realise she is the ADC who has the highest burst and objective securing potential atm yeah?

EDIT: Yes a dive comp can rek her, but I disagree with the part where you say her damage is weak, not at all.

This is why I don't silver players serious -_-" who said anything about objective control? Kalista has weak burst and damage compaed to other ADC's, you jump her, she has to get a lot of AA on you before she can take you out. Other ADC's can take you out in 2-3 shots/abilities.

Svddenly2 votes

I don't play adcs, I play melee champs (aka tanks). I can't just outdamage her unless she is 0/7.

Kalista Is by far my least favorite champ to play against.

With champs like Ahri, Azir, Ekko, Leblanc , etc. being slippery requires some modicum of skill, whereas with Kalista all she has to do is right click and she's gone.

Dedrius2 votes

I actually agree, I would much rather have a bunch of champions that are fun to play and learn even if they tend to be stronger than most previous champions rather than a bunch of balanced one dimensional champions.

Does certainlyT tend to make his champs a bit overloaded? Yes. Does he also tend to make the most fun champs to play. Yes. I would much rather a zed outplay me and blow me up rather than an Annie mashing her face on the keyboard and doing the same amount of damage.

Just my opinion

Arsames1 votes

Well said, literally 90% of people who hate on CertainlyT play 0 skill champs like nasus, nunu, annie etc, no out plays, no skill shots, just faceroll. Then they complain about CertainlyT champs having a lot of options and plays, yes that comes at the cost of skill requirement of the player :)

Strawberrycocoa2 votes

Eh. His champs are fun and full of cool stuff to make use of. They just feel overbearing compared to older or simpler designs.

We just need reworks to happen faster so the entire roster can keep up better.
