I've played him quite a few times. One of my favourite top laners. :3
A common mistake a lot of people do is shove the lane into the Nasus's tower. This makes it impossible for the jungler to gank, it makes it easier for him to get stacks with the tower shots helping, and you're not going to be able to tower dive him since he'll never be low enough.
You really do not want to leave lane during the early game. If you do, he gets free farm, and during the first 20-30 minutes, that exactly what he wants to do.
Ideally, Nasus wants to get 300 stacks at minimum by the 20 minute mark. If he reaches that point at 20 minutes or higher, then you did a poor job bullying him.
A general rule I made is that if he's able to beat you in a 1v1 fight once, you won't be able to again. His damage will eventually overwhelm you, and his sustain and tankiness makes him hard to kill. If he does reach that point, don't try to start a fight unless beating him is 100% guaranteed.
Grevious wounds. Build Thornmail, Mortal Reminder, or Morellonomicon if you're a mage, champions like Nasus is why items like these even exists. Sometimes you have to forget about your dedicated item build and adapt properly. The weaker Nasus's lifesteal (And by extension, his Grasp rune) is, the easier it is to kill him. He's tanky, but not a true tank.
This one is for junglers. Much of the same applies to you, but sometimes Nasus will reach the point where he's too strong to fight, or maybe you can't gank him at all for some other reason, or you can't gank at all since you're a powerfarming jungler like Rengar (if this is the case, Nasus might be too difficult to gank). If for any reason that you find it too hard to gank top, then the next best thing is to try and snowball you're other lanes. If you can get your midlaner or adc to late game, they will bring the damage needed to take down Nasus even in the late game. Still, tip #5 still needs to be taken into account.
If you are the jungler, keep ganking him, tilt him off the face of the earth then let your top lane use the advantage you gave him to kill him.
play rhaast kayn ez win
If you are laning against him try and get a lead against him. One good example would be get a good early trade, then deny him stacks and cs by freezing the wave on your side of the map and zoning him away from the wave. Grevious wounds also work against him because it cuts the healing from his passive. A champ that uses conq really well also works against him, the true damage helps kill him faster. 1 champ that I really recommend is Darius, tons of damage from his kit and somebody that usually builds a bunch of armor.
1 thing that your jungler can do is get himself, or your teammates fed, then focus the nasus in teamfights/skirmishes, because nasus’ passive requires him to deal damage to units, having a very cc heavy comp allows your team to deal a lot of damage to him and stop him from healing and dealing damage back. If you choose this kind of comp, champs with knock ups are usually better, so nasus can’t build a bunch of tenacity and decrease the time of the cc.
I main nasus so I know a bunch about how to play as and against him.
(this is a tip for APs only, this does not apply to any AD champion)
Many people fall into the idea that you have to beat nasus or slow him down farming ect, you don't, it is a lie.
What you want to do against nasus is SURVIVE. "Well how exactly do I survive a champion that can use Q every 2 seconds!?!?!?!" you may be asking.
The answer is simple. Phase rush. With this you completely nullify his entire existence.
