Nerf Illaoi into the Ground

Just played a game against Illaoi top. I was told that ranged champions do well against her, so I went Quinn (I know shes not near meta or anything good right now, but the most comfortable top laning ranged champion in my arsenal) I dodge skill shot after skill shot after procking her w pass so that I got the extra movement speed. I did well until Illaoi 's first back. (Couldn't stop her from cs'ing because she has great wave clear). She ends up rushing item 3076 and item 3047 . I'm practically useless to poke her now, so I choose to cs instead. I back knowing that I would need sustain in this lane to buy items towards a item 3153 because that item is supposed to work well against armor. Time goes on, i get hit by maybe two q's but I have sustain. Finally around the 6 minute mark, she hits me with her soul rip. Can't dodge em all. Second time it happened but I pushed her out from it the first time. This time however, I was being pushed out, I tried to run out of range of the soul, but by the time I reached the edge I was at ~20% hp. Then it happens. Karthus R comes raining down. I got hit by 1 skill shot at 95% hp, and died. Dead. Kaput. Because I couldn't dodge every skill shot. Lane crumbles from there since she can just w me with no repercussions. She takes no damage from my disengage because she can heal it up with 1 tentacle. My roam is lackluster because MissFortune built item 3047 as well. Here is where you comment, "play Nasus , play a tank that can cc, she hates cc, play Gnar , he can kite." That's when I rebuttal, "Nasus was banned, tank's don't actually do enough damage to her to out trade her, cc is great but yea, no damage, Gnar is cool, but if you get caught in squishy form it sucks, and if you try to engage on her, she ult's and as you know, she does twice the damage in half the time that you can." Riot. Why can't I play champions against a champion that does not strictly counter me? Why does Illaoi get free Kleptomancy hits off of her e? Why can an ADC justify buying item 3047 ? Shouldn't a champion that is strictly meant for damage be able to do some damage? Why are tanks allowed to do equal if not more damage than that of someone who has nothing else but damage? I want these questions answered. Sorry for the rant Riot.

tldr; Nerf Illaoi into the ground

You are playing Quinn, literally any top laner could have done the same of making you useless with those items. Side note, yeah, she does damage...you built no defenses at all, you expect to tank her?

Seriously man, your argument is literally "Nerf her into the ground because I lost to her, I mean, ignore the fact I built no defenses, it is my first time playing this champion so I don't fully understand what I'm doing, and me dying to her is only because she is OP, not that I might not be all that good."

I wish people would argue intelligent conversations about the topic rather than referring to memes.

Illaoi has a different perception from people who play against her vs people who play other lanes.

Top Laner: She's oppressive as hell after her first back, because Test's cooldown becomes VERY low, and you literally encounter it 3-4 times a minute, and she only has to hit once. Her scaling early game is insane too, so if she hits, she's going to at least disable you for a full ~ 15-20 seconds of the lane and require you to recall and waste another 45.

The Vessel Duration reduction from attacking Illaoi isn't really that useable either; By attacking her, you commit to taking each Slam twice, because she will hit both you and your vessel. So your choice is to either try to fight her from an angle where she can't hit both you and your Vessel, or to run. If you run, you're going to waste an entire wave of minions trying to kill her tentacles while not getting hit by them. By the time you're back, she has Test up and ready to hit you again.

It's a really depressing lane phase, and usually a jungler can't help you, because doing so will kill them instead. So they avoid and abandon the lane, hoping to carry bot or mid, while you very likely might be losing what feels like a 2V1 perma fight bot.

There's not many top laners who can really fight Illaoi directly either, because doing so means killing her tentacles. Since most of them are melee, if they try to kill tentacles, it's a choreographed fight, and the melee will likely lose. So.... the melee just "tries to defend" the turret. In reality they still are unlikely to win, so they stay back, and Illaoi gets a free lane. (I've had a Trundle top literally feed her all 3 turrets in about 10 minutes of game, because he just couldn't find an opening so he stepped back and watched).

Other lane perspective of Illaoi: We can team her, cc her and then her ult is worthless. They rarely ever even encounter her, because when they do, it's as a team and she pretty much can't sustain all that, especially vs cc and grievous wounds.

I commonly Nami or something like it to stop Illaoi tops, but that doesn't mean that Illaoi didn't just 100% dominate top lane until i could manage to leave bot. I've never actually seen an Illaoi lose lane unless she was inting.
