Why is the meta the way it is?

Is the meta of having 1 Top, 2 Bot, 1 Mid, and 1 Jung, for efficiency? I am genuinely curious. Do you guys think it will ever change?

ADCs are a requirement, but they're relatively weak early. Supports exist because there are only 4 resources to be consume dby 5 members. You put the support with the adc to help them stay alive. You put your duo lane bot for more dragon control. You put a mage mid because they're squishy and the lane is shorter so they're safer from ganks. They also scale mostly on exp compared to adcs who scale more on gold, so you wan them solo. You put assassins mid because they have kill potential on squishy champions, scale both on levels and gold, and when placed mid can easily roam to either side lane. You put a tanky/safe champion/strong duelist top because it's generally the most isolated lane. You have a jungler because the jungle is easy enough to clear/offers enough income that it is worth farming.

not while riot is in charge and the player base remains largely stupid and just following what other guys do and gets mad when you dont do the same. it will more likely have to come from a simular game with a simular structure and be adapted to this game
