My Resignation

Dear Rito, I've been here with you since back when HotshotGG was a big deal. I remember the early seasons. I remember there being 40 champions. I remember how hard you worked to balance different aspects and shift gameplay, the needed nerfs on lee sin, the total rework of stealth, and all of the different metas the game went though. I watched the progression of more and more mobile champions, to the point now where most newer characters have at least a gap close and an escape of some form. Although non-plussed about your removal of DFG, I understood it had to be removed to keep some assassins in line. However with your rework of veigar the game just isn't fun to me anymore. Every character I play has higher mobility, with the exception of Veigar. I enjoyed him because I felt like if I made the perfect positional decisions, I could net in a kill and hopefully outrun their allies. I enjoyed this "wheel-less cannon" type idea, where you have one non-mobile assassin with more damage than the rest who could pick people that got too close. I find your rework of him to be against the core of what you are trying trying to do to the game.
I understand, you want people who play high mobility assassins to feel like they are playing some ninja assassin, and LCS big plays are a big part of what makes your game successful. But why did you do this to one of your clearly-defined characters? You have 40 assassins, like 30 adcs, more bruiser/tanks than anything. But veigar filled a niche nobody else could. This isn't a request for you to revert it, this is a goodbye. LoL was a beautiful game, and they've tried to keep it balanced for a long time. However, I find deceiving their audience and trying to call the little yordle's blatant removal a "rework" a slap in the face. Either they knew it was a lie, and hoped people wouldn't make too much of a fuss over it (more likely), or they actually, for a moment before they released it, thought this was a fair rework.
As one of your original players LoL, you have done a beautiful job for the most part. Just remember your community likes diversity in the future. Goodbye Rito

The only one of these mages made for single target arguably is malzahar, or cho due to ult (barely). Veigar was known for being able to remove a character with insane damage if he was allowed too close, with his weakness being if caught trying to get too close is easily eliminated. Annie remains the only character on your list with an instant ranged stun, and aoe none the less (the same type taken from veig). Your examples are good mages, but don't fill the same spot as veigar

Every single person i listed has the capacity for CC and single target nuking, with no mobility whatsoever. All of these champions have a direct capacity to remove someone from a fight if they get in range.

If you enjoyed spot was an extremely low-counterplay stun, then enjoy annie. If you enjoyed burst mages where you don't have to rely on direct skillshots, enjoy malz. If you want your enemies to damn well fear your small range, pick any of them (vel has range. but still, people have to respect getting in range of E). I'm not sure what spot you're looking to fill.

Annie didn't bring as much damage, but was used for her reliable aoe stun.

None of these mages even come close to his single target damage, and all have significantly more aoe damage/cc then veig. I'm looking for a no-mobility, low surviving, high single target mage/assassin. Each of these other suggestions bring way more/useful options in every scenario than veigar, i'm saying he should be useful for something

What you're looking for is a ranged assassin. Something that, by nature, will have very little counterplay, because the counter to most assassins is range. Whatever floats your goat man. I personally disliked the complete lack of counterplay that pre-work viegar had, and find most of the above to be very balanced.

Isn't "being in a shitty position without a good means of escape" kinda a form of counterplay? Orianna specifically comes to mind, as she doesn't have reliable hard CC, has decent damage, but is more teamfight oriented than veigar.

However picked off in a bad position ori is totally screwed, he 1v1 is acceptable but will lose to most assassin's or bust mages (LB et al.). I propose a mage or assassin at the other end of the spectrum. Think of a nidalee with less range, more damage, and no escape. I don't see why all the minuses arn't abusable. So long as the spells are single target the character suffers more than most in 2v1 scenarios (think TF, or maybe xerath due to low mobility). Yes, you probably can't 1v1 duel them (which there are a plethera of characters who fall in this category a majority of the time by midgame, jax, trundle, LB, lee sin, ect.) where they work as duelists. If we have ranged characters with already very high, often lethal damage, why not push a character further gimping them in another category. I think it would be a nice change from the mobility creep for a moment.

It isn't when the only counterplay is being with people. when you're more or less guaranteed to die in a 1v1, then laning in anything but bot lane is a lost lane. when someone powers up like viegar, then that translates into a team fight juggernaut, especially with the AoE stun/cage and W.

The reason i didn't include ori in my post is because ori can run like hell with her W, while still doing damage with the Q E combo as she does so.

You just........ described not nidalee. I'm not sure what you described, but it isn't nidalee, because what you said is 'its like this champ, minus everything that makes her unique'.

Still, if you have a ranged character that is designed to win a 1v1, then they are going to dominate the laning phase, unless they become too weak to win it feasibly, at which point they become cannon fodder. there isn't enough laning counterplay for a champion like that to exist, unless you give everyone else the mobility to counter it.

I gave nidalee as an example (thinking old nid mostly) as a champion who could do high damage out of nowhere, but was squishy in general. However her ridiculous damage was from stupidly far away and she had insane escape, neither of which i'm supporting as fair or normal. I'm saying that damage on a closer-range mage isn't ridiculous. Veigar was always strong in lane, and mediocre late game. If you look across any of his higher elo (pre rework) builds, he was a mid/early game champion that worked late-game OK because he had gate and a champ removal tool (when dfg existed) but is nowhere near as useful lategame as other mages that we used for example. Orianna ect. being late game mages

Now he's a mediocre damage no mobility shitty cc joke.

You're not looking at what i'm saying. What i'm saying is that what you want (ranged deleter with hard CC) isn't possible to balance with counterplay, which is why it was so fun. "shitting on people is fun" to quote meddler. You can watch people like sp4zie on old viegar, and there is clearly no counterplay there. If you didn't outrange him, you were going to lose every trade, if the viegar was worth his salt. Thats not a good game mechanic, so instead you have people like velkoz now.

Okay, phew, now I can read it.

Don't worry, you'll be back, I said the same thing last season. Now I've just adapted to the BS.

Not really. We have like a dozen assassins and a dozen ADCs maybe a few more in the case of ADCs.

That and Veigar was BS before not to mention his rework didn't really change much about what you claimed he was good at before (you can still instantly kill whoever walks too close with your ult).
