Follow up on my last post arguing for quality of life imporvments for supports.
After reading some others opinions/retorts to my previous argument along with some more brain storming I have refined it.
A summary of my last post: Supports are the most unfun/unrewarding role due to the resource allocation in the game. They will be behind in stat values no matter how well the player does in contrast to other roles, in fact an ideal support should not relistically get ahead much less be even as they should funnel resources into any other teamate as much as they can. They are forced to leech exp due to the same resource allocation practices gaurenteeing they are 1000s of gold worth in stats behind just via a level differental from a penalty they cannot both avoid and play intellegently(punished for playing properly). I then proposed some ideas to adress my grievances.
Its seems my loose/open ended suggestions to adress this received a 50/50 split in acceptance. Amongst those whom found my post unsavory one argued a flat out absense of power differental between supports and other roles at all. Some argued my solutions unbefitting of the game being nothing less then poor design. Some pointed out potential abuses from other unintended roles.
As a result, I have both narrowed the argument to one thing in particular that i find most outrageous and am aproaching it from a different angle:
Supports are a resource deprived role that forces them to play from behind as soon as lane is over and until late game if they are played properly. Their level deprivation comes from a mechanic in the game that devides exp between mulitple players sharing a lane. This exists for a good reason, it punishes players for 2v1ing a lane denying cs gold for a long time so its as much if not more a set back to them as it is for the 1 player they laning against. Since support is forced in lane and throughout the game to share exp they are set backs 1000s of gold value in level stats for nothing more then playing properly on top of lacking a good income to get good items. This is senseless for the support to suffer as they arent 2v1ing a lane, they are 2v2ing. Past lane they are only doing their job supporting teamates around the map where ever they can produce the most value. The same applies for the teamates they leech exp from who get set back by their presence effectively punishing them as well, particularly the ADC for most of the game. The worst part being their is no other way if the support plays to win, as in this is an effective punishment for playing properly in the role. This is likely a pretty high contributer for mass discontent of playing the role(properly) as well as having needlessly lower level stats relative to everyone else means you cannot achieve as much(worse hard limitations). So a way to fix this without changing much: Supports could have this problem helped by the third tier support items they should be buying anyway, the very thing other champions will never buy as its an effective disadvantage to them compared to getting anything else. These could have an effect added to them to supplement this disadvantage in the form of granting them enough bonus exp to cancel out the divided exp with up to 1 other champion. The champions they must share with would also get bonus exp to cancel out the shared exp penalty. As an added measure to prevent abuse by other roles the 3rd teir support item could also deny gold for last hitting minions flat out with the exception of relic stacks. This way the support and whom they are supporting don't miss out in a lot of stats throughout the game unavoidably from the support playing properly. This is no more or less free then what any solo role gets by passively having enemy units die near them. Forceing out a support would also still give them a level disadvantage appropriately. This wouldnt give an advantage to the role, it only would remove and unwarranted and unavoidable disadvantage exlcusive to them. Such also potentailly increasing the enjoyment of players for the role, potentially even some that don't want to play it ideally making it a less hated role to play.
