Why tanks?

robotmaster··1 votes·667 views

I wasn't playing when the first class update for tanks came around, but I do know it was more of a hit and less of a miss over all. So why tanks again? I believe that drivers need some help aka aatrox. I just don't understand why tanks get two class updates. The only thing I can understand is that bruisers that do dive in will be turn into more tanky champs for team fights instead of 1v1 duals. I just want their reason for doing tanks again. Is it that they wanted more champs in the first tank class update and didn't have time to add more? I would just want to know why tanks.

The first class update was the juggernauts, not tanks.

They never did tanks. It was juggernauts. Tanky==tank.

CURRENT PROJECT: TANK CLASS UPDATE I’m happy to announce that the next class update we are going to tackle will be beefiest class to date, Tanks! While we will systematically be looking into the Tank class as a whole, we will be primarily focusing our kit work on initiating tanks, which we call Vanguards. We want to give tanks more mastery and skill expression, as well as unique identities. This doesn’t mean we want every tank to require high mechanical skill, but we do want players to feel like the more they play a champion the better they get at that particular champion. Right now many of our tank champions have the flattest mastery curves in the game (basically this means players don’t improve much as they continue to play the champion).

As for unique identities, our Vanguards in particular are currently very similar to each other. They all are basically different versions of Amumu—they go in, do some AOE CC, then stand around doing ambient damage to the enemy team. One of our major goals will be to make the Vanguards we rework break this mold in new and exciting ways. We also want to take a real hard look at defensive items and how the entire roster (both tanks and non-tanks) engages with them. We want tanks to get a much greater benefit from tank items than other classes, so they can correctly play the role of being the tankiest champions in the game. We’re still experimenting with different champions, but once we start to lock down which champions will get larger scale reworks we will let you all know, so keep your eyes peeled for design direction posts in the future!

They already gave some love to tanks. I'm not saying tanks don't need a class update, but I am saying that there are other classes that haven't had a class update yet and I think would need it more then the tanks that had a juggernaut update a while back. But like I said before I wasn't playing lol back then so I don't know what their goals were at the time. I just think drivers need more help right. Just because I feel a lot of drivers feel the same.

Again, juggernauts are not tanks. Think of the juggernaut update as the first fighter one.

Vanguard tanks are also in a similar boat with divers, but get higher priority because of how their itemization needs to be reworked.

Tank does not equal Juggernaut.

Juggernauts are high damage dealers with almost no cc or mobility that build hp items, not resists. The champs they updated back then were Mordekaiser Skarner Darius Garen . They have since moved Skarner from Juggernaut into Vanguard since the community spoke up about how important his mobility is to the playerbase (they were going to restrict his mobility by a ton to convert to juggernaut) plus his cc level was too high to be there too.

Tanks build resists and health, usually very little damage, and have a high amount of cc. Nautilus Amumu Maokai Rammus

Divers can't be updated before tanks since they build the same items right now for survivability as the tanks do. Once they differentiate the true tanks from the divers, they can go about differentiating the divers from the other divers.

Only classes that haven't been "updated" Tanks Divers and Supports pretty much. I guess the just picked at random?

Riot has a hard on for tanks, not a lot we can do.

Ever since season 4 they have consistently been one of the strongest classes in the game and you can be sure riot is going to make them all broken.
