Breaking Meta pisses people off...

It is frustrating when I break away meta in games I play, People get super pissed off when I question the meta saying for example

"What if I did this instead such as max attack speed over ability power?"

People get super angry saying it won't work and they think they know it will not cause they have been playing for 5+ years.

Outcome of my build

  1. Cooperate and destroy 3-4 towers being carry
  2. Cooperate and win
  3. Cooperate but bad timing and lose
  4. Ignore and let me feed unintentionally and blame me for loss
  5. Ignore and get stuck in a lock on top lane with Garen for 30-40 minutes with both of us with only 1 item
  6. Ignore and become carry by destroying 3-4 towers a game (about 9 games i carried)
  7. Ignore my pings of danger or assist and get ganked and get blamed
  8. blamed for why the team lost

I think people forget at one time meta was not meta at one point and when it was constantly successful it became meta. How can i get people to understand meta is not the only way to play?

people often forget the meta breaking lcs players are way the hell more skilled then bronze or silvers. so i hate when i get meta breaking stuff like olaf support. happened 2 times last season. break the meta in standard draft and not try it in ranked until you 20+ games of yourself curb stomping with the meta breaker working consistently. dont think it works after 2-3 games

Also pro teams understand how to work around a breaking the meta champ. Unlike us low tier players... >.>

I'll get back to you when I figure out how to read this properly. :P

As someone who enjoys every minute when he rolls Teemo in ARAM, let me say... Never underestimate the power of denial.

Teemo works so many ways, and is countered so many ways. But everyone thinks they know the way to build him, and the toxic ones will gripe at you for building him differently.

Granted, facing Garen top lane as you did, I don't think I'd be trying to max attack speed first.

I knew that but the thing was I was stuck with Garen till what level 11 or 12 neither of us leaving the lane and neither side ganking either of us. Then i took a dive only dying once that game and then I was 6/1/8?

A sample size of one is worthless. It worked for you, that's great, but until it's tested across the playerbase, from Wood V to the LC$, with the hundreds of variables possible, it can't be depended on. This does lead to stagnation like you stated, but the costs outweigh the benefits and most don't want to deal with that.

For instance, I once fought against a team with an Olaf in the bottom lane. He absolutely dominated, easily the best member of the team, cleared the lane to the inhib multiple times and was tough to kill. Unfortunately, that was all he could do, he couldn't help his team because he was always pushing, sure he could wipe us in midgame by himself, but the rest of his team was dead at this point and he would usually die in the process. And once we got our shit together, we would wait for him to push, collapse on him, then barrel through his base with no resistance.

Can his strategy work? Absolutely, but I'm willing to bet his performance put a sour taste in his teams mouths should they ever see an off meta bot lane again, regardless of how they contributed to that game.

As my name suggest I main Teemo The thing is they expect me to build AP and not AS when I build Teemo I go for item 3091 which can go for -25 magic resistance and most go for a magic resistance item. plus the bonus 42 damage on basic attack and the +50% AS making my AS about 1.88 plus the +30 magic resistance making me better then any meta Teemo facing me.

Most people forget that a player made up adc. Even in training you can do any champ in any lane. Players that say there way or the high way most of the time feed hard.

I used to be an avid meta breaker, and I do it occasionally. I honestly think the meta is a bit stale at times (but yay for tank junglers uprising!), so I get bored.

I've had my friends shut up about my meta breaking after I proved that I could make jungle Morgana and Soraka work. As long as they're chill, I'm chill about it too.

Don't let people control you, prove to them that you know what you're doing!

If you can do well consistently, go for it... but expect people to flame you if the team does poorly. It's easier for people to blame the AP Varus or the Karma top than it is for them to realize they're the ones overextending, or getting picked off, or missing objectives.

I remember an ARAM game (that's right, not ranked or even normals) where I was raged at all game for building AP Miss Fortune (a build that's off-meta but can be viable)... and at the end of the game I had the most damage dealt to champions, but we still lost.
