@Reds Cho Gath Feedback

Posted this on the pbe boards but reds never respond so hoping I can catch Riot's attention here:

Where do I even start? Well let's see I started playing back in season 3 and ever since I have always loved playing champs in off meta ways (ap tristana, ap yi, ap cho gath, j4 support, etc.) and back in S3 when I played with my real life friends I main ap cho for the longest time and i still play it from time to time and get that nostalgic drive and its actually pretty fun; hes squishy but is a great aoe burst mage. Personally I think he fails as a tank and is only viable as an ap champ in his current state on live. And that brings us to this new cho gath on pbe......

I want to start out by asking, what is Riot's vision for cho gath? Is he supposed to be a full tank, if so why does all of his abilities scale amazing with ap? Is he supposed to be a burst mage, then why remove the ap scaling on his ult? Is he supposed to be a hybrid, then he is outclasses both by normal mages and actual tanks.

Honestly I don't want riot to remove his burst mage playstyle but with this change the way it is, that's exactly what is going to happen. If it were up to me I would scrap these changes and leave well enough alone, cho gath is in a good spot on live where he is. He can be played as a burst mage mid lane and not be outclassed but also not be too over powering. However if Riot is just gung ho about re-working a nostalgic main of mine please do 1 of 3 things:

  1. Change the health scaling on ult back to AP but still allow his ult to stack infinately without losing stacks
  2. Change his ap ratios on his other abilities to health ratios
  3. make all abilities scale with both ap and health (though lower the ratios)

Doing so will allow him to keep his aoe burst mage playstyle alive while making his ult more integral to his kit.

And my absolute least favorite sugegstion:

  1. If you really wanna cram him down our throats as a tank, re work his entire kit to give him more defensive abilities and less offensive abilities. His kit honestly sucks for a tank and works best as a dd kit, better tanks have shields and healing and extra armor, his tank identity on his ult doesn't really fit the rest of his kit.

Though 1 point I would like to make as well as his ult in these changes is very important to farm for stacks, but by the time you get enough stacks to make it worth it the game is going to be mostly over already making it a strong nerf; does this ring a bell feral flare sated devourer both these items had the same concept of farm for stacks and by the time you are done farming the game is over, remember how Riot failed to make it a healthy mechanic and was forced to scrap it twice? Please don't make cho gath's ult be the new way y'all try to sneak that mechanic in.

I understand the health scaling change on his ultimate; it smooths out his early game and allows him to get the guaranteed health tankiness, without projecting anti-snowball but they inadvertently will nerf AP Cho'Gath pretty significantly. I think what we really need to ask ourselves is how often will Cho'Gath actually go above 10 stacks in a game? How feasible is it to repeatedly kill champions with feast in a fairly well-matched game? Will the damage nerf to his ultimate make it that much harder to get stacks? I remember they added 20 or so seconds to his ultimate a couple seasons back to compensate for the minion-monster cooldown halving. Will that remain, despite the removal of that feature?

Cho'Gath's real issue was his reliability in a fight. The average mobility of champions has gone way up since his inception and most champions have built-in method to dash, dodge, dive, dip, or duck out of every single one of his abilities, minus his ultimate. Will this health scaling actually do anything to improve this inherent flaw?

EDIT: On a side note, Juggernaut enchant will be that much more powerful on jungle Cho :)

I take it you haven't seen the "Mega Cho'Gath" buffs on the PBE yet?

that is exactly what this is a response to.

Then read his lore and understand where they are going with this. Cho'Gath is going to be the "godzilla" of League.

He only scales up to 10 stacks (size).

Plus lulu ult and elixir of iron

oh boy, that big size will sure be a nice detriment to his ability to dodge

this is a nerf overall; the health ratio should not go forward

Given his in-game size, I do agree that he will be even more of a skill-shot magnet. Not sure the increased health will compensate for the fact that any hard CC (especially Ahri charm) is practically guaranteed to land on his fat ass.

I'm caught between the idea of a gargantuan void monster and in-game feasibility. He just needs to be compensated in other ways to make the gameplay both enjoyable and fair.
