Thinking about Shaco's ult

I was reading about the stealth rework and one thing lead to another to the point where I was obsessed with the fact that Shaco's ult "removes him from play" as it's described. Now for me this is mind boggling. I understand Kalista and Tahm now do this in a way, but it makes since there the whole grabbing a team mate out of harms way. But with shaco it seems so random. Why is he removed from map instead of it being instant liek wukongs or just a temp stealth like lb's? My personal opinion is that it wasn't originally planned to be like that and it was supposed to be like LB's passive proc. But seeing how shaco is one of the earlier champs it's easy to imagine some sort of coding issue led him to have to physically be removed from the game for a period of time. What are anyone's thought on this? Do you enjoy how Shaco's able to dodge anything with this? (apparently someone said they tested with a friend and found that the shaco could even dodge a friendly heal cast) And in general do you think it was intended or just something that occurred and riot never bothered to figure out a way to change it?
