Low elo top/support help.

I'm a lower elo player looking to climb. I enjoy playing maokai top and leona bot. I'm looking to keep a small pool of champions to get good with. I like tanks and utility champion because I can't hard carry. Who would you suggest I look into getting as a low elo player?

I think the biggest thing is to watch map for tp ganks in top, and also learning how to play from behind or stall out a lane because once you die top once, it becomes a big snowball fest. Most champs can dive really easy, so it is imperative that you learn to survive a lane, and with support try and make some plays via roaming mid/getting some deep vision.

At low elos I think it is harder to climb with champions with low carry potential. As your team is less experienced and will not be as good at playing from behind. So pure supports or low damage tanks will feel very lack luster when your team is struggling, as you will have little potential to pick up their slack.

For lower elos I would try tanks that have a little more carry potential then a Maokai.

Maybe Trundle, all he really needs is Titanic Hydra and\or Iceborn Gauntlet to do decent damage, the rest of the build can be pure tank. He can also play both Top and Support very well.

Okay. I'll look into him. Would I build him pure tank in runes/masteries? Or more damage, then tank items? Like I said I like the utility champs, right now if I try a Darius type. I can't help but get kited and feel unless especially if I get camped in lane.

For support I would build him pure tank runes and masteries, for top lane I would look at AD or ArmPen Reds, AD or Movement Speed Quints (maybe a mix), then choosing between flat/scaling armor yellows and magic resist blues depending on your opponent.

Top Lane - Besides your ult max Q>W>E

Support - Besides your ult max E>W>Q

Top Lane - I like getting a Tiamat on my first back if I can, then the rest depends on the opposing teams comp. If they have a good bit of AA damage and I am facing AD damage I will rush Ninja Tabi>Iceborn Gauntlet\Frozen Heart>Spirit Visage (Spirit Visage has good synergy with Trundle' passive) then upgrading Tiamat to Titantic Hydra when my initial tank items are complete.

If I am facing magic damage the build will be similar, starting with Tiamat but then rush Spirit Visage first.

As for other items they are situational depending on who you are facing. I would keep ZZ'Rot Portal, Guardian Angel, Dead Man's Plate, Banshee's Veil, and Randuin's Omen in mind.

Support - Eye of Equinox>Boots (your choice, I like swiftys\mobis on support)>Iceborn Gauntlet\Frozen Heart>Lock of the Iron Solari>=Spirit Visage.

Then rounding the last item out with Dead Man's Plate, Randuin's Omen, ZZ'Rot Portal, Guardian Angel, Maw of Malmortius, or Titanic Hydra, again all depending on how the game is going and what the enemy team comp looks like.
