I've mentioned it in some other threads, but I can leave it here as well :)

I'm currently finishing up the Juggernauts release, as well as starting up some Quinn stuff and waiting for the Champion Update team to be ready to go into production on Taric in the next few months.

I'll probably also have some Garen/Skarner follow-up to do in the next month or so.

Aside from that, I'll have maybe one other main project to work on in the next few months, but I don't really know what it is yet.

Meddler could probably speak better to larger scope stuff than individual projects, but as an individual contributor, that's about all for me for now :D

"Quinn Stuff"

Are you planning to look at her passive, bugs or her ult? Any nibble of information will sate me for weeks.

Archenz1 votes

Thanks for the reply!

I hope you continue to monitor Skarner and Garen to add changes to them.

May i ask what you plan to do when they are released?

For example, if they are underpowered, what will you expect to do? Like maybe Skarner, will you give him buffs for controlling 2,4,6 spires?

What if they are OP. For example, Garens win rate sky rockets, how would you handle it? What would you hit? Same for skarner, if he becomes OP, what would you hit and nerf.

Thanks

I love playing Quinn so I'm a tad worried. Can you tell me if they're changing her vault? It's the best part of her kit and she wouldn't be Quinn without it.

Mitch Twain2 votes

If they actually want her to be a marksman, they need to change it. It's the only ADC skill that makes you physically touch your opponent. Generally ADC's don't want to be put into their targets faces, even if only for a second. What if they made it so that Valor cripples your target, and the mark is reapplied? Quinn would still get the damage burst from her kit and get to stay out of range of her enemies

EDIT: I'm fine with keeping her as an assassin, just suggesting a change to make her more ADC-like

Tattersail3 votes

Except her ult is all about being in your enemies faces and then executing them...

FlashnFuse1 votes

Ya it can definitely put you in a bad position, but it can just as easily take you out of a horrible position. I've survived many things that would kill other adcs by vaulting off the fed zed, talon, riven or katarina that just jumped on me. Your replacement idea isn't a bad idea for a skill, but it would be a horrible replacement for vault.

Klaustukast1 votes

IMO E should stun for ~0,75-0,5sec and her ult should get more execute damage. Quinn isnt that good as adc but she works rather well as an assassin (that the way i like to play her).

Spyglass1 votes

Actually, as a Quinn aficionado and marksman player, her vault is a fantastic escape tool (and one of the best any carry has). The problem with it is that it's directly tied to her damage output (and that it occasionally throws you random directions). Her problems as an ADC stem from her lackluster steroid (a % bonus AD buff on a time-based cooldown with semi-random target selection that can't crit - coupled with one of the most underwhelming AS steroids with the same problem), the complete unreliability of blind as a mechanic in general - and that the valor proc is tied to her only escape/disable. Her ulti is amazing as an assassinate and re-positioning tool (even if you never auto while you're valor), and vault's interrupt/slow coupled with a huge amount of ground covered for an ADC escape tool is equally impressive.

Vault is, in my opinion, the thing that makes her most iconic (and the fact that she can turn into a bird). Ideally, they'd leave it mostly untouched - though they can move the valor proc somewhere else for sure. I want to see her Q be relevant as a damage tool (or get a real form of CC attached to it), and her steroid buffed or reworked. The ult works as is, but I won't mind seeing it changed. It would be better for ADC if it did flat damage instead of execute, but as long as it keeps some form of movement speed (esp the ridiculous out-of-combat it has now), I won't even have to change how I play her.

Don't be too worried. He was really responsive with the Garen changes and really cares about player input and feedback, so your champion's in good hands. Garen's fun as hell to play on PBE right now. Probably a little overtuned, so the period where we're all going ham for Demacia will be short-lived, but hey... that's life :^)

Quinn was the main-est of my mains for a long, long time, until I started playing jungle and playing tanks and stuff. One thing I always felt was that aside from the movement speed, valor didn't feel super birdlike, and most of the time when you morphed into valor, you would go back to quinn as soon as you got close to an enemy for the extra burst damage.

Not that I know a lot about champion design, but I think a rework on quinn would put a much bigger emphasis on Valor, on the fact that Valor is a speedy bird, and perhaps giving the player more time as Valor? maybe even a reason to remain in bird form besides movement speed? More knock-knock jokes from Valor???

Really have no idea what you mean here. Riot has done a great job making valor feel bird-like. Fast, diving, high attack speed thats sticks to a champion but doesn't just kill them instantly like rengar. It's perfect.

In terms of "I just ult when I see a target", I have no idea what you are doing. If you stay valor you have better ms, dueling, and sticking power. Every time I ult it involves a lot of decision making - where I can go, who I can get, hoe long to stay valor, etc. It seems like you ult without a target in mind, which is a complete misunderstanding on a fundamental way to play league, and not something riot should mess with a good champion for.

XpsYZ1 votes

I also don't think that Valor feels very bird-like. The only bird-y thing about him is his movement speed and his bad humour. Perhaps desinging him as a fighter wasn't a good idea here (as well), since birds of prey are THE assassins in the animal kingdom, coming out of nowhere, smashing their preys head in with their insane speed and claws. I'd love to see Valor as a burst ult.

I know you guys probably have tons of inspiration floating around the office already, but you should swing by the Quinn Mains subreddit (r/quinnmains). There's been some pretty compelling discussions on what kinds of changes would be interesting for Quinn there recently (specifically here: https://www.reddit.com/r/QuinnMains/comments/3fxjqj/why_skystrike_needs_to_go_and_525_needs_to_stay/). I'll summarize a bit of the collected thoughts real quick:

I know you can't give details out at this point, but I really hope that the main change you're looking at has to do with her ult, specifically Skystrike.

It seems like a lot of her powerbudget was spent on giving her this gigantic AOE ult. And while there are some edge cases where having it be AOE is nice, it seems like the optimal use for such an ult would be in a team fight, where it would hit multiple targets. But in the middle of a teamfight is usually not at all where Quinn wants to be. 99% of the time it's used to execute a single target.

Could Skystrike be reworked into a single target execute? For example, you could allow harrier to still mark a target in Valor form, and then Skytrike could do more damage to the marked target based on how many autoattacks you were able to get off in Valor form. Instead of returning in a hail of arrows, Quinn returns with a single powerful shot/dagger strike.

Alternatively, you could remove the execute entirely and just buff Valor - would be neat to bring Harrier into this as well, give Valor some sort of buffed attack to marked targets.

For both her gameplay and her theme, it feels to me that buffing up the 1v1, target marking, and scouting/roaming/splitting aspects of her character would work well.

I just really, really, really, really hope you don't rework her into a viable duo lane ADC at the expense of her solo lane ability. I realize my vote counts for very little, and I definitely trust you guys (your champ reworks lately have been really compelling), but I've got almost 1,600 games on solo lane Quinn and I would be the saddest of pandas if she wasn't viable there anymore.

iDontCareLmao1 votes

I know you said no details but I have to know, is she staying a solo laner?

I certainly hope that Quinn Stuff involves fixing a major issue with her ultimate: its cooldown doesn't start cycling until AFTER you use Skystrike. That can extend the cooldown by up to 20 seconds, and discourages using it for long-distance travel or for staying as Valor in combat.

Man, you sound busy as fuck, straight up. Seems like some interesting stuff, though; I hope you have fun with it!

Are there any plans at all to take into consideration the grievances of the Mordekaiser fanbase? The vast majority of Mordekaiser fans are apparently quite angry, quite angry indeed at the rework, and while I don't support them insulting CertainlyT, I would like to know whether or not there's been any consideration that perhaps the direction chosen is ultimately off-putting and upsetting to the rather decently large chunk of players who are voicing their concerns, sometimes in polite ways, other times in not so polite ways?

I'm glad for the changes on Quinn, don't get me wrong, she is my favourite champ, and has been for over a year now, but she is just probably the most useless adc going XD. (I had too many ranked games as Quinn top last season to be proud of)

@Repertoir, if I may, what's the logic behind throwing Dead Mans plate on live IMMEDIATELY after Bilgewater event, without testing it's repercussions a bit more on PBE? Despite disliking tanks, I have to admit, it's a very solid and interesting item. But it pretty much contradicts the "immobile juggernauts" thing you're working on atm. I've faced a few Dead Mans plates, and it's very scary seeing potent fighters simply run at you way faster than you can outrun them (cfr. immobile ADCs like Kog, or utility lacking ADCs like Lucian) and they get the shiv-like damage on top of it... Any comments you can give? For clarification, this is not me simply hatetalking the item, I'm just curious as to why this happened like it did without additional testing concerning upcoming Juggernaut changes.

Please

PLEASE

PLEASE DON'T mess up Quinn. I know you're working hard, but if we, the Quinn mains, don't like what we see, PLEASE LET US KEEP OUR BIRD LADY.

I don't want to see Quinn become a standard marksman. I don't want to see her become a full-blooded form-switcher at the cost of her assassination potential. I don't want to lose the burst potential of double, or even triple Harrier marks. I like her as an ADC Assassin. I also love her denial-based toplane play, where you can zone an opponent out of lane from level 1. Other Quinn mains love her for different reasons.

Quinn's a great and unique champion. All she really needs are some QoL buffs and bug fixes. But if you're gonna change something, please make sure the Quinn mains are ok with it. She's OUR champion.

Raise The Gnar1 votes

I LOVE Quinn, and the only thing I think that is keeping her from being a viable "Markswoman" is her Passive really. Harrier can be so powerful but at the same time, so unreliable, I know a couple patches back (a long time ago) you guys made her passive proc based on proximity, but when I'm dueling my lane opponent(s), I like to play her ADC sometimes, and Valor marks a minion instead of the enemy champion, it can cost me the trade. Something I would love to see change here is have Harrier/Valor prioritize the target you are attacking, instead of just the closest target.

If what i have read is true, and you are working on Making Quinn's Harrier feel better that is great. Sometimes harrier feels really clunky. I dislike how sometimes a champ under tower gets 1 pixel within Quinn's AA range for a fraction of a second and Harrier immediately picks this champ that i cant aa now. THen i have to wait a eternity for harrier to reproc on minions. Tag team could use a MS buff too.

CrazyMango1 votes

With these recent changes to other champions, I'm kind of worried myself. Quinn is the only "adc" I enjoy playing anymore because she's really more of an assassin that plays a duo lane better than any other and is a pretty viable top lane at the same time. I don't want to see her forced into the adc position or even a Gankplank/Sion level change, but I do want some QOL changes done (which I hope is the only case).

atklecz1 votes

How is mord considered a juggernaut but renekton and voli are not?

Lon dubh1 votes

What I'd like on Quinn is that her ult feels more impactful.

A couple of my ideas:

  • Whilst as Valor, basic attacks and Vault mark enemies. At the end of Tag Team's duration or when Sky Strike is activated, enemies that are tagged receive more damage.

  • Using Heightened Senses in bird form causes the area to be revealed for a longer duration OR Valor receives more vision (moves the fog of war back 200 or so units)

  • I don't know about anyone else, but when I think of Vault, I think of the shape of a banana. So what if casting Vault as Valor brings you in a curved trajectory (like Diana's Q). This way, you can dash around a Thresh hook instead of zooming into it really fast?

Also can we fix Harrier's interaction with Yasuo's Windwall. If your enhanced attack gets blocked by his wall, he's still marked and tricks me into thinking I can still proc it :c
