Suggestion: You can not play a champ in ranked without X-Mastery in that champ

So I have had a string of games lately (not just Yuumi) but in general, where I am in a Gold 1 ranked game or going for my Plat promos, then on the load screen I see that my teammates are playing champs that they have 0 mastery on. I am all for trying new champs and having fun, but it is BS that someone can play a champ that they have NEVER played in a game vs others with in ranked.

I think there should be a floor of the required mastery to play a champ in solo ranked queue. Even if it was like 10,000 or 5,000 - get a few games under your belt before you come into ranked with it.

It makes for a fun promo when your top Sylas has 0 mastery and goes 1-13. This has been happening more and more lately and its frustrating for people with zero experience on a champ to tank a game. I am aware that they could have put in countless hours on the practice tool or PBE server on a champ. Then it should be no problem for them to do a few normals to get the required mastery level to play the champ in ranked.

A mastery requirement is perfect. It will slow down smurfs and remove a small percentage of braindead people.

You have a good point but I just want to throw this out there: playing a champ a lot doesn't inherently make you good at them. For example, I'm mastery 2/3 with LeBlanc but I'm utter garbage with her. I only play her when I'm rolled her in ARAM and have no other choice. So while I have experience and mastery with her, I'm not good at her.

For this suggestion to really work, it'd have to be gated behind those mastery levels that require you to get an S rank with your champ, such as 5/6, and those can take a painfully long time to get even if you are good at your champ, because Riot's ranking system pls?

I feel like it should be a relatively low number like M4. Its pretty easy to get a grasp on a champ

Well i think it should be something like that because first time you play a champ you maybe don't even know what the abilitys do ( first time i played lux i didn't even know how to make the e deal any damage without waiting 5 seconds and i thought that lux was leona and now i'm a little lux main 270k and level 7 but like i always hit my q e and then miss my ult so riot shouldn't allow me to play her in ranked xDDD) Sorry if anyone gets eyecancer because of all the "and's"
