From what kind of damage source do the plants take damage? I was playing Morgana against Zyra, and my W kept on damaging her plants every tick, which seemed like an effective way to kill them. So I was wondering what other spells/buffs/on-hit effects count.

Plants can be killed by three basic attacks or a single target spell and one basic attack. They also grant a little extra 5 gold if you land the finishing attack.
This is all it says. It doesn't say anything about multi-target spells, red buff, or on-hit effects. And apparently dragons can kill plants in one shot according to a comment, but it's not in the article (probably unconfirmed?).
Godhri2 votesRed buff and on-hit effects don't count since they aren't separate attacks in of themselves. The thing about her plants is that their demise is contingent upon hits rather than damage. The reason morg's W works because it "hits" 5 times before fading.

DOT damage is typically considered AOE. Her plants should only have 6hp.
