Numbercrunching on Cassiopeia's Leveling Paths

Hi, I did a little numbercrunching to see what leveling order would be most efficiënt after the most recent changes to Cassiopeia.

Leveling Noxious Blast (Q) first over Twin Fangs (E) does the most damage if you use a combo of Q + E*n + Q, with upto 4 E's, If you land 4 or more E's between Q's, leveling E will do more damage.

  • Leveling E will allow you to last-hit better and is obviously better if you don't follow up with a Q (but you should anyway).
  • Leveling Q will give you better waveclear.
  • Amplified W damage should not be underestimated if you can get +4 seconds of poison on your target(s)
  • You can choose to switch, leveling Q and E simultaneously, the numbers suggest starting with Q2, then E2, Q3, E3 etc.

  • Taking W at lvl 4 and 13, R at 6, 11 and 16.

This math isnt perfect (I didnt calculate increase in damage on poison still ticking) it should give you an idea however. unfortunately you cant upload excell files, so this will have to do.

Although some want an all-out poison mage, poking from afar (wont happen), this will bring back some feeling of poison-mage. You could even go as far as leveling W second, using E merely as a cheap buff to poison and a heal (the Heal scales seperately from E's rank).

tl;dr Maxing Q is the best option to level first, provided Q + E*n + Q (n < 4).

However, the damage is still relative to the number of E's between each Q. Which means, we are more encouraged to level up E instead of Q. Leveling Q instead of E might give a better clear waver feeling, in late game that would not be a problem, in the early however, might not help much on properly csing (i said might, don't overreact im talking about laziness here and lag issues). Following the Q reasoning; Q would imply a little poison-mage dream-oriented path once core builded i guess, however, i still find a flaw that darn passive holding her till fulfilling the 500 cap stack requirement. In which case, even if you go Q instead of E, you still would need to wait till late game 500 stacks to at least have the chance enjoying the Q striking. In the meanwhile, you would be less effective than E oriented during early and mid game. She still caged if you ask me. Also, the stacking process is relative, due to the Stacks per time and the venom used on an enemy champion.

Do not misunderstand me, the buff heal on E was a cute addition, but being caged after being told "that she would be fixed" its an entirely slap to the face for me, giving something relatively useful, and gutting other parts its not a fix, its just messing around giving a late game only. There are already late game oriented AP casters, that are even more reliable than Cassio at all stages of the game.

Kassadin has his riftwalk once hes 6. He comes and goes as he pleases, like mundo. Twisted Fate goes roam-like once hes 6. And he cheats with sustain, utility and presence (at 6) in teamfights. Without mentioning the fast/safe Q clear. Ahri goes jumpy-kite once shes 6. Syndra bullies till 6. And, once 6, pray you're not the target. Lissandra has her own Zhonyas once shes 6. Hard cc and even safer pick due to E.

Old Cassio could deal with all of the above: early, mid and late game. Not being able to bully hurts her mid game, not being able to bully mid game after early hurts mid and late game, and she's also level caged and level caged (what? two level caged? yes! the passive and the levels. Sad but true). I mean... lets just be real... New Cassiopeia? hahaha. No.

She used to be picked for being fun, being safe at the early levels, and not having to depend on Jungler's blue buff (cause its jungler's blue buff).

If you play an all in aggressive style like me, lvling e is always best, cause you can get 4+ es for every q. Gj on the numbers tho, however I feel the goal of most ppl who lane cass is to land a poison than e the shit out of them, the q being there only for e. Some matchups tho I see q being the better choice maybe
