I want to have fun and play the mages in this gamemode but going into a game and everyone just rushes banner against mages makes it not as enjoyable knowing there is nothing my team will be able to do unless we go ad.
then please tell me how to deal with 5 
as a melee champion.

Being one who actually does agree with you to an extent...I have to disagree due to the fact that the entire team plays the same AP focused champion. If one player isn't willing to break the mold to counter the banner with either** building AD** or buying a banner to counteract it then that's the team's fault.
And banner doesn't mean build absolutely tanky as I had a player flame me over last night. It's just a good item to spare yourself partially from the struggle that most burst mages wreck your face with.
I'm sorry, I'd like to actually beat Morgana in One for All. Or Brand, or Malzahar, or Lux, or Galio, or Anivia, or any other mage.
Banner of command needs a minor nerf in it, sure, but completely disabling it means mages are the only champions that get to win, because they just auto clear the wave with one or two spells.
