The higher I climb the more pissed off I get when people play like absolute chimps

Like these are Plat level players I'm getting matched with while I'm down in Gold III, if I know how to fucking play then they damn well better know how to play when behind so this stupid "oh it's just a bad game" bullshit excuse shouldn't apply.

There's a point where it stops being bad luck and devolves into fucking trolling, and I'd say a Platinum III player running it down lanes completely ignoring teamfights and just dying time and time again is a fucking troll.

plat and gold aren't that far apart in skill. The biggest differences in elo through just one promo is diamond 1 and master and Bronze 5 and bronze 4. Everything else that's about an elo or a few MR below is viable to be played together.

OneBarrel6 votes

Gold is shiny bronze. Plat is shiny silver. Both are garbage, yet there is still a huge difference between Gold and Platinum. Take a look at op.gg and the rank distribution if you don't believe me. If you were so good that you believe you deserve plat or higher, why aren't you already? Personally, I climbed from Silver 4 to Plat 2 in less than 450 games in one season, and from experience, I can tell you that Gold is extremely different and bad. I also have many Gold irl friends that are in the same boat as you that are not very good.

Cavesloth15 votes

450 games? That's why people shouldn't bother with ranked, that many games is just ridiculous, especially since a good portion those were just league wasting your time, it KNEW you weren't silver4 material yet placed you there just to waste time so you'd play ranked all season so the ranked servers wouldn't be empty.

OneBarrel2 votes

You realize that counts losses right? Winning games would be around ~235 and I have a 56 WR. The player above stated the players should have 500 games in Normal Draft before being allowed into ranked. I was just disproving that lmao. It also placed me there because this is a smurf LOL.

EDIT: LOL the one dude who mentioned a solution about having 500 games in normal draft before being allowed into ranked deleted his comment because of downvotes.

Number 11 votes

I had to laugh at this comment. You played 450 games on a smurf and only have a 56% win rate?? What's your main?? Gold? The difference between gold and plat isn't much, I'd rather have gold 1 vs gold 2 on my teammates than plat 5. D5 here

GayFluffyUnicorn9 votes

Say thanks to riot. They kept lowering LP gains every season to keep you grinding. You barely skip divisions anymore. The highest i've gotten so far was 25 LP in gold with 80%+ winrate on different accounts.

Few seasons prior you would get like 30+ LP and jump from 5th division to first in one promo.

Now you have people plat 2/1 playing against high diamond/master. It is such a fuckin grind to get to your tier you already play against.

And also 450 games isn't that much assuming he was a silver player that got better. Plat+ players make that in 50 games or less depending on the MMR you start with. Getting better is a grind you will rarely play 50 games a season and get from silver to diamond level unless you are some prodigy at the game.

There isn't a different between gold and plat, both play trash tbh

I've played with diamonds who were complete mongoloids tbh. I'm talking like an ezreal run straight down mid and chase 1 kill, when they had 4 down and baron was free.

This shit is why I gave up on this game

I'm going to get downvoted for this, but it's the truth and it has to be said.

This only occurs because the game artificially surpresses people at the lower levels by failing to adequately deal with trolls, afkers, and the toxics thereby thinning the numbers at the top to an absurd level.

In a world where queue time is the KPMI, you're going to see G3 matched with P3, and it's because no one at Riot thinks in systems.

It could be that his MMR is really high while the plat's MMR is really low. So it could be someone playing on a boosted account if they are really playing that bad.

So true. After getting it handed over for free i started to pick up destiny, haven't played shooters in ages other than PubG and i have to say destiny feels great, especially PvP. Sure some things are overpowered or might be considered unfair but even in defeat i'm having fun because 90% of deaths is my mistake i could have avoided by playing better unlike league and you can actually carry games unlike league.

Nope, the better I got the worse I did.

I played back in S3/S4 primarily (bit in S2 and S5 but nothing much). Now my background, I was ranked 16th and 23rd two years in a row in the WC3:TFT 2v2 RT ladder. I played against pros, not good enough to go pro, but I know what 'pro' gameplay looks like, I can handle entire armies/multiple heros no problem (so 1 hero is easy mode), I have fast enough (above average, below pro) reaction times. I can nail skill shots with impeccable precision.

I came back after years away and was placed in gold... somehow. Didn't know what I was doing, playing old/outdated champs, no idea what the new items were, skill shots were off (I was rusty) missing all over the place, all these new heros/abilities I have no clue what they do/what to watch out for. It was a mess. But I expected that.

Over the next two weeks I got back into the swing of things, learned the new champs, learned how to avoid them/what to watch out for, honed my skillshots, got better item builds, customized rune pages, learned the map changes. My dmg went up, my KDA when up, everything was measurably better... and I lost nearly every single game.

The better I got, the worse I did. It got to the point where I was topping the dmg meter as support, and still losing. I sunk so low that I was up against people who could barely even control their champ, I could combo them with my eye's close, it still didn't matter, someone always fed, as we lost.

It didn't matter if I warded or not, graves will still kill you even when you know he's coming. Turret means nothing when he can dive and 2-shot you at will. And it doesn't matter if you nail your CC with precision on a few jax, you can't kill him and as soon as it wears off he's just going to 2-shot you.

Gameplay doesn't matter anymore. Skill doesn't matter. This game is nothing more than FOTM whales feeding off everyone else.

...?? bro you have a 39% win rate. Not to dog on you but cmon.. that has nothing to do with team mates. Your team is literally at a disadvantage because they have you.

Your builds are actually complete trash and that's probably whats holding you back.

Kaisha3 votes

Did you take a look at any of the games? I'm usually #1 in dmg on my team... In fact I'm often #2 or #3 on both teams... as a support... on the losing side.

So apart from landing CC, protecting my adc, warding, and doing dps... what else can I do? Apart, of course, from the obvious, play a FOTM hyper-carry and 1v5 to a win. That does not interest me in the least.

TBH I'm surprised its 39%... I thought it'd be worse:

https://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2908921741/267454?tab=stats

See #1 in dmg.. on both teams. The #2 (on both teams) is the Lucian, my adc in lane, the one I carried and fed kills to. Its why I have more dmg, and he has more kills, I got them low and let him finish. What else can I do?

Game after game is the same thing, win the lane, someone top or mid feed, and lose the game. As support your contribution means fuck all.

I play support. Like I said. Fix your build before anything else.

Damage done doesn’t mean shit. Especially on a long range poke mage like VelKoz. Especially when you go these weird mana heavy builds which probably help you throw out more poke (padding damg) - but suck in actual teamfights when your damage matters more.

Kaisha2 votes

Cause ROA is a bad item? I didn't know surviving in lane was bad... And deathcap is a mana-heavy item? Really? Hourglass too... really mana heavy.

You're so full of shit.

I tried Seraphs once or twice just to see if the extra shield would help, and Luden's because its pretty common. And of course the mana heavy liandrys...

RoA, Deathcap, and Hourglass are pretty much the go-to for nearly any mage support or otherwise.

But clearly getting the odd fairy charm early game when I had an extra 100g and then selling it late game is clearly bad. Cause you know getting wards up earlier isn't something you'd want to do, or a bit of extra early game cash from poke, or being a bit more aggressive in lane is bad too...

EthosTerros2 votes

I build archangel into zonya on my sona, then banshee or something like that, real mage items. Deathcap and lichbane for that late game and you actually get pretty deadly like if they don't focus u they get fucked. I have better cdr, better sustain, strong survival utility and better output on both damage and healing than I would have with shit like redemption athenes and censor. I'll build a censor if I have like 2-3 auto champs like yi or a jax on top of my adc, and they're doing good. Otherwise it's better to just build like a mid laner so you can contribute to the team.

No, I'll be more specific.

First, I reccomend looking at pro builds when you play a champion: https://www.probuilds.net/champions/details/Velkoz , click "support" if you want support only.

Second. Let me explain to you in detail why your builds are shit:

1). You always complete Rem. of Aspect FULLY before any other purchases. This is awful. The stats you get from it aren't worth it at all. Not to mention you probably won't even have your quest completed by the time you finish it - making it doubly awful. In high elo most players will almost NEVER finish Rem. of Aspect because it's not worth it.

2). You have bought 0 control wards in your past 20+ games.

3). You rush RoA every... single... game. Awful. It's actually so awful that changing this could single handedly change your win rate.

a. you don't get it early enough on a support income for a stacking item (+ you buy Rem. of Aspect first so you delay it's buy anyways... - making it doubly shit). b. It doesn't give you the punch you need early game to be effective. Guess what, RoA doesn't mean shit when you're consistently completing it at 20min+ - meaning it won't even be stacked by the time (30min+) the games effectively decided.

c. You get 10% CDR from your items early game. Until you (sometimes) get more CDR at 27min+...

d. Seraphs is awful for similar reasons, but if you're not building it anymore then thats good.

e. Ludens gives you EVERYTHING YOU WANT AND NEED FROM AN ITEM. Purchase it. Feel good. CDR, mana, AP, increased poke & burst.

4). Fix your runes. I won't go over why each rune choice is bad - just copy it from pro builds. Maybe you wouldn't feel the need to go Rod if you had manaflow band.

5). Stop trying to consistently go for death cap.

a. As a support you will rarely base at 1250 gold for NLR, Meaning buying items with smaller components is easier and lets you hit spikes quicker - especially in lower elo where fighting is more common.

b. There are tons of AP items with great utility - stop pigeonholing yourself into a 0 utility item that isn't even that great unless you already have a lot of AP. Making it a doubly shit purchase on supports.

c. Considering you never buy early CDR this is actually triply bad.

Only go for deathcap if you are snowballed out of your mind.

6). You go exhaust every game?? Go ignite. It's almost ALWAYS the better summoner choice. Not only does going exhaust every game tell me that your a massive bitch and your stats are probably padded by being a complete pussy in game - it also completely removes the very real kill threat Vel'Koz has post-3 and even more-so post 6.

No, don't try to explain it away. Your builds are actually so garbage. Maybe spend 17 seconds doing some research instead of typing out 17 paragraphs on boards on why Riot's holding you back.

I'm only telling you this from the kindness of my heart. If you don't want to fix your builds then don't. Just please, I beg you, please don't try and use your silver logic to try and explain why it's good - it's hard to read.

Complains I do too much poke and not enough team fight...

"Ludens gives you EVERYTHING YOU WANT AND NEED FROM AN ITEM. Purchase it. Feel good. CDR, mana, AP, increased poke & burst." "Stop trying to consistently go for death cap."

Then suggests I go Ludens over a cap, despite being essentially the same cost. Ludens is a poke item, its not a burst item. Cap works far better in team fights due to Vel's passive. They use Luden's in pro because they do more poking in pro (something you state is bad).

You've contradict yourself multiple times in your posts. I don't have to counter your arguments, you've already countered yourself.

I like how you couldn’t actually counter any of my points about your build and why it’s shit - and focused only on the parts where I insulted you.

Also, Yes, Ludens is better for teamfighting. And I explained why deathcap is shit. Let me reiterate: big cost components (1250) making it harder to build.

  • Ludens is still better for TFs cause of the CDR. Not only that but enables you to TF more/skirmish more because of your lower ult CD.

I never contradicted myself. It’s your inability to read/grasp basic concepts which probably makes you think it’s a contradiction.

But don’t change ur build bro. Riots holding u back! Fuckin Riot... you have the GENIUS build that NO PLAYER IN THE WORLD has had the brain capacity to see why it’s good. ~~~~

"I broke down why your build is shit one by one." Not at all... you made a bunch of contradictory statements... You got nothing of substance.

"“Ludens isn’t a burst item” iI’m completely fucking done lmao. Holy shit dude. Lmaooo."

"I like how you couldn’t actually counter any of my points"

Because the math was so simple (I mean this is Grade 9 level stuff) I assumed it'd be obvious. My mistake, I clearly overestimated your intelligence.

So we'll approximate a mid-game damage combo with around 300 AP, and compare the damage contribution of both items. So a standard rotation, Q, W, E, W, ult (or something similar, the order doesn't matter as long as you manage to hit them all).

Since we're interested in the contribution of the items (not total damage) we'll just look at %AP.

Q - 80% AP W - (15% + 25%) x2 = 80% AP E - 30% AP R - 125% AP and 3 procs of his passive= 50% AP x3 = 150% AP

In total that means for 1 full combo we get 80 + 80 + 30 + 125 + 150 = 465% AP bonus.

Ludens: 100 + 10% of total AP per proc + 90 flat AP = 100 + 0.10300 + 4.6590 = 548.5 maximum burst damage

Cap: 120 flat AP + 40% of total AP which mid game is around 300 AP total (which gives an effective AP of 192) = 4.65*192 = 892.8 max burst damage

That's 50% more damage the Cap contribute per 'burst' than Luden's. The only reason why Luden's is used is BECAUSE its a very good poke item. Even factoring in the cost difference:

Ludens: 3200 gold/548.5 dmg = 5.834 gold/point of burst dmg Cap: 3600/892.8 = 4.023 gold/point of burst dmg

"big cost components (1250) making it harder to build" I'm not sure how often you're going back to the Nexus, but if its every 400g you're spending more time at the Nexus than helping your team.

"Ludens is still better for TFs cause of the CDR. Not only that but enables you to TF more/skirmish more because of your lower ult CD."

CDR/mana = poking... lots of small hits spread out over time. AP = burst... lots of damage over a short period of time.

So you gotta make up your mind... do I need to poke more... or less? Because on one hand you say I poke too much, then turn around and suggest I poke more.

Or more likely you're just full of shit, have no clue what you're talking about, and are just desperately grasping at straws trying to save face after looking like a fool.

Looking at that match - you guys lost because they did better at pushing/objectives. You all had a better KD ratio and damage to them, but they just did better as an actual team.

That is still on you and your team, not statistics. KD's are nice, but it's honestly irrelevant at lower elo's and not nearly as important as objectives. I carried out of lower elo's easily based on objectives, not damage, KD etc. Just some food for thought.

I didn't check the rest of your match history, but my thing is - if you're a support player. You're not going to carry out of tiers quickly as you just don't make the largest impact in the game, just the bottom lane and follow ups on objectives. To keep going higher, you may need to just play a different role and raise a bit before trying out carry mode supports (it just isn't that effective)

Kaisha1 votes

Yes but as support I can't take objectives. I can't take dragons, or towers, heck even pushing solo without a dash/escape is insta-death even with wards up. If I'm not sitting on a turret or tagging along with someone else, I'm a free kill regardless of how well I play.

I can ping the objectives, beg in chat... it'll do nothing. No one listens. No one cares, they're too busy running off trying to get another kill. Even if I get my ADC stupid fed (like in the above match) they won't do anything but run around chasing kills. If I take the kills and get fed myself its useless because I'm not a hypercarry so I don't matter.

"You're not going to carry out of tiers quickly as you just don't make the largest impact in the game ... To keep going higher, you may need to just play a different role and raise a bit before trying out carry mode supports (it just isn't that effective)"

And that's what we've been saying all along. Support doesn't matter. You can't carry out of support, skill doesn't matter, dmg doesn't matter, kda doesn't matter, healing doesn't matter. The only thing you bring are wards, a bit of CC, and pray your team doesn't suck...

I have zero interest in playing a right'click'n'win FOTM hyper carry. Its boring, its skill-less, and winning with them is no fun.

Everyone seems to think everything is fine if support works 10x harder the 1/10th the reward... because 'that's how it is'. That's utter BULLSHIT. Its why no one wants to play support. There's a reason why every single 'fill' is a support or jungle.

At this point they might as well make Rift a 4v4 and just do away with 'support' cause clearly no one (RIOT included) wants them around.

This was my experience, too. Like, in a recent game, I'm supporting bot: the enemy ADC is overall better than ours, but I'm helping them well, body blocking skill shots, and keeping them alive. The enemy ADC is better, but at nine minutes, neither me or my ADC have died, and we're getting the lead on CS. I'm getting the feeling of: "Yes! This is difficult, but we can turn this, and win, because of my skill at protecting the ADC!"

And then I look at the rest of my team: my teams top laner, is 1-11 at nine minutes in.

What am I supposed to do????

You lose the game: "Oh, I guess you deserve to be placed with an even worse team then."

I don't know what to do anymore!

Fwiw, this never changes. Lol. I can't speak for the top elos, but my peak was D2. Bronze through D2 is full of monkeys. It won't get any better. Lol.

Not sure if it's right now that you are experiencing this or throughout the season. If it is right now it's probably because people mid plat know they won't demote to gold or climb to diamond so they are just trolling until next season. My plat promos at the end of the season were excruciating because of the fact that I kept getting mid plat players first timing champs becuase they knew they were getting their border no matter what.

it's why team games shouldn't have a solo que. I don't know why they ever considered solo que to be a good idea. It's like just make it so that if u wanna play competitively you need the balls and the social skills to make a group, put out some ads on online forums, and put effort into coordination and not being a piece of shit to other people. Solo que is cancer because it encourages sociopathic behavior and treating people like objects. Of course dehumanizing and being dehumanized constantly is gonna add to toxicity.

Matching blows or all the monkeys would be at the bottom. Instead they are somehow everywhere.

Feels bad when you're climbing the ladder and you only know you're 'climbing' because your lp total is going up.

You would expect diamond players to know when and how to pick fights and not diving 1v5 then spam pinging for not following up.

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

Or the diamond player knows whento pick fights but you don't and don't follow a good call because you don't know it better.

ÈvilMorty3 votes

so an underfed master yi flashing over a wall, diving in 1v5 when half the team cant go over walls is a good pick? k bud.

bow your head, that's yisus you're speaking about.

Love it when Im in Diamond 4 and I get Aatrox mid who no joke repeats this process every single time:

  1. Do you see an enemy?
  2. If Yes, Press R and run into the enemy spamming all your buttons
  3. If No, find a lane to farm from, if an ally is there, contest his CS
  4. Repeat until game is lost or won

Like what the fuck they have 27 more kills than us stop going aggressive, I legit guessed he has a sub program or some shit running.

And my Pyke pulls the enemy Darius into us like he's helping.

How the fuck do these people reach this elo.

you have 10 players in a game, therefor your impact over the game is 10%, the other 90% is a combination of how good your team is, how good their team is, and your ability to get your team to coordinate and keep positive mentality through the game while trying to tilt enemy team. Especially with the champions now and the way the game works is a lot more team oriented like there is no more solo carrying, if a dude gets fed he will feed if he tries to 1v9. I've seen irelias go 7-0, think he's about to be bjergsen and end up going like 10-7 by the end of the game and lose, then blame his team because it's their fault that he went yolo. It's winnable if the fed teammate knows how to transition his lead and push it to benefit his team, and his team knows how to make it work in a game where a lot of team gold is on one particular member, but it has to be a team effort. Even when I've got fed as fuck on an adc but the game is even, I can literally feel the game on a knife's edge like if I make a bad mistake the game is fucking over, and the weight is all on me being the carry, doing the most damage, and making as little mistakes as possible. It's not just a 1v9 god tier carry like even if they get on my nuts for good plays, I'm like no it was you guys that made this possible I just had the gold lead and you worked around it.

SwiftKitten883 votes

well if riot made it so you would climb by learning the game, rather than "climb" because you picked the most broken overloaded champion in the game..

then maybe people at higher elo would know how to play... you don't "climb" by "learning the game" u "climb" by abusing what is "broken"

and that's the flaw of league, and its why seasons after 5 have been horrible, because riot is so intent of making "new OP shit" that the ranking system doesn't mean jack shit anymore

While the elo system isn't perfect, I'd say it's not as flawed as most people suggest. I've never had a problem getting out of silver, easily finished gold every season (for rewards), and I've made it to plat (from silver, with under 100 ranked games) literally every time I've actually cared enough to try and climb.

I generally carry pretty hard as rek'sai jungle main. I usually participate in at least 10 kills in the first 15 minutes, secure a tower or two, and get a dragon. It usually sets my team up for success if they're decent but losses still happen. Some games aren't that great; some games I only break even K/D wise and get a single objective, or end up slightly behind. It happens, and while it's not always my fault sometimes it absolutely is.

About a month ago I had a 2/16/3 Rek'sai ranked game. It spiralled out of control really fast, and every play I tried to make exploded into a beautiful disaster; multiple enemies walking away with slivers of health, me and my allies dead, sweeping for wards and going in without being seen, but enemy jungler happens to be close enough to perfectly respond, ect.

The bottom line here is it happens. That game where your top laner goes 2/10/3 in plat might be his equivalent to my 2/16/3 Rek'sai game. Everyone has bad games - including you - and others will always be present.

I will say that it's absolutely possible for your elo to out pace you and inhibit ranking up. I was playing with plat 3-1 when I was in g2 and made it into g1. I got stomped, had a 7 game losing streak, started to get matched with people closer to me (g1 to plat 3) and won 7 games in a row to get plat 5 before season end.
