I really don't fucking understand Rank matchmaking, Gold V yet I'm matched with Plat teams?

Let's take this most recent game of mine for instance, literally every single last one of the enemy team were fucking Plats while mine were a mix of Golds and Plats.

If my MMR or whatever the fuck Riot uses to calculate Rank is high enough to get matched with players AN ENTIRE TIER HIGHER THAN MY OWN, then why the fuck is it that I can't jump higher during promos? All I got after playing through 2 entire promo series of getting nothing but fucking Plat enemies every single game is a jump from Gold V to Gold III.

That does not seem fair at all for the amount of effort I had to put in to win those fucking matches.

Promos are supposed to be harder than normal ranked matches, I'm pretty sure. Jumping from Gold V to Gold III is pretty good, tbh.

Doesn't seem all that great considering I'm fighting people a whole 5 divisions higher than me.

I mean you won, and skipped divisions for it. I imagine your LP gains right now are probably pretty nutty, and you have a good win rate. Your MMR is probably pretty high. I was getting plat players in my reagular MMR gold 2 and gold 1 games so it's really not that farfetched to be getting them in gold 3 if your MMR is high.

This happened to me on the last day of the ranked season, I was trying to get from Silver to Gold and played against Plat players. Ended up 3-1 in that promo. Hope it goes well for you too!
