Why is grievous wounds being buffed back to its original state?

If it's just to nerf Soraka (and it probably is), then sure, but that's a pretty terrible idea since Soraka isn't the only champion who heals others (Nami, Sona, Janna, etc). Not to mention that GW is an inherently badly designed mechanic (as Riot themselves have ironically discussed many times in the past), mainly due to its binary nature that goes something along the lines of "I applied this common status effect to you, GG".

Soraka was basically designed to be easy to nerf/buff. There are tons of levers on her to adjust; in fact, Morello and Vesh (the rioter who reworked her) even acknowledged this. Healing too much? Nerf her heal value/cooldown (not that this should be done considering her identity). Building too tanky? Nerf her heal's health cost. Restoring too much of her own HP? Nerf Starcall. She has too much CC? Nerf Starcall/Equinox. Too much CC because of an unnecessary semi-rework? Revert it. Restoring too much of her own HP passively? Nerf her health regen or nerf Ancient Coin since she's basically the only champ who uses it. etc

Why nerf Soraka in the worst way possible (in terms of general game health) when there are so many better ways to balance her? I say this all as a Soraka main, and I don't think restoring GW to its former self is even remotely fair to other caster supports.

GW has been a classic limiting factor to the power of self healers and healing supports.

THis is going to be a nerf to nid's healing as well.

THe issue is that Soraka could basically keep an ally who was way out of position alive to easily and there was nothing you could do to stop the healing if you did not have enough burst to kill the said out of place target.

Mortal reminder will likely need some changes to justify what is happening with GW but the change back to GW is needed for contending with heal spamming.

Soraka's heal comes with a pretty heafty cost and she is pretty squishy can be focused and killed first with little change in your combo versus other priority targets. Soraka is so easily dealt with with a slight change in play style but its deemed unhealthy for a support to have a significant impact

wann know why its cause of Mundo even buying the items intended to counter his absurd healing on his ulti dont evn phase him then there iscrap like Soraka which leaves zero counter play to her other than trying too kill her but in a league dominated by tanks or tanky brusiers that is damn near impossible most times

Same reason they're nerfing fiddlesticks in the mage overhaul, they have no idea what they're doing

I agree that changing a game mechanic to balance one champion is a very poor decision. It actually counters their own logic and rules.

Soraka's kit likely can't be fixed though. She can't be fixed through nerfs of buffs. Her rework has failed whether or not anyone wants to admit it.
