I honestly feel Garen is in need of nerfs.

He's too simplistic for the rewards he brings, and he's hardly any risk in making plays with. Every champ that I know that I am against as Garen I can easily formulate how to beat them, and get relatively good success with the strategy.

Rito made his DPS numbers too high and his Ult and Villain mechanics need to be toned down a lil more. Just saying. Simple champs shouldn't be as reward as the more mechanically or strategically difficult ones.

Quoting RG Thundrag:

Garen's spin does less damage until lvl 16 unless isolated, hes less tanky mid/late, has less ms less MS boost % and duration and a shorter silence. In exchange he got stronger late late game damage or a situational isolation and in big fights its kind of hard to get someone isolated. Along with an uncontrolled element of doing true damage to a target.

Here is the math: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/jxlkMRzA-garens-spin-deals-less-damage-than-before-until-level-16

The thing with garen is that hes only reallt op in soloq and norms because moat times teamscare randoms and lack coordination. When it comesto 5s team rank he 'lloses more because coordinated teams can deal with him better. Also he is weaker and less tanky and weaker pre16. Hell. Only time i actually see myself pretty much nuking enemies is when theyre behind, im full build, or im fed af

i think every champion should actually do something

at least he does damage now, i'm fine with it.

So explain to me this. Why is Garen so strong when he lost a lot of his tankiness he used to have as well as does less damage til around 14 which he does the same as old Garen, only doing more at 16. He lost MS as well as a smaller Silence from his Q. People say he is OP when literally every single thing was a nerf to him when he became a Juggernaut. The only thing that was given to him is Villian, which is a random target which is usually an ADC that will take true damage from his ult as well as deal % of their max hp as bonus damage. This was the only thing that was a buff to him, and to be fair, for everything he lost he more than deserves what he got.

People need to learn how to actually fight him since overall he got nerfed than buffed. The only time he is more a threat than before is if you are the Villian.

I don't know. Sometimes all you need is a hammer.

Joking aside, sure nerf him. Just not sure where.

Well ye giving 1500 bse dmg on his E wasn't the solution (what a suprise who would have thought this) as rito previously thought.

The main issue is he has no real drawbacks in using abilities freely.

now if his Q were to have something like the Blitz drawback where he is slower after using it for 1.5 seconds by 25% that might provide some real chances for jumping on a garen's mistakes.

I get having windows of power but perhaps a better way to approach Garen in balancing him would be windows of weakness given that he is intended to be good but easy to play.

garen is basically the same as he ever was, besides now that his ult does True damage to the villain.

really don't understand the obsession with banning him nowadays.

i guess people are just really that trendy
