Why supports can't buy other role items but everyone can buy support items?

Solari turned into the new favourite item to tops and junglers.

Can't we have cool things without others abusing/stealing it? Now I predict it's going to get nerfed very fast and supports will be in limbo again.

Why can't supports have a different gold system like gangplank silver coins that unlocks some exclusive stuff? I'm so tired of that. Also I'm tired that the role that makes less money in the game have this obligation to buy sighstone every single game.

Funny enough sight stone junglers and tops don't wanna buy and exploit...

That is because SS has a dead-end build path. Sure, it could be combined with a gold regen item to upgrade to get better stats, but it's still an expensive item that isn't as beneficial when dueling others that the top/jungle role usually does.

Ruby Sightsone is 500 health for 1600 gold. That quite cheap for also getting a lot of vision and vision denial through it. Health is always good. Unfortunately, as the game currently is, damage is usually better.

There was a time where some junglers bought Sight stone, but there's a smite that is a weaker version of it now instead. At one point junglers were secondary supports too.

That point was only a month or two ago. Even now in pro-play the meta has returned to a "protect the marksman" playstyle.

No, junglers had been buying sighstone for years. As well as other utility items.

Supports make just as much money as anybody else. Barring fed carries. Just check end of game stats. The sightstone items are actually really good stand alone items with useful stats. Support items are finally strong and diverse.

The problem is that damage items with defense stats are overtuned while true tank items are undertuned. So tanks are buying items that are actually cost efficient, because theirs aren't.

Supports do not make just as much money as other roles. This is blatently false.

In bronze/silver elo, it's not that false. More often than not as a support i end up matching the gold of most of my teammates. Unless my botlane gets thrashed but that's normal. FQC gives a ridiculous amount of gold.

I never understand why people seem to think Supports make just as much money as all other laners. Think there is almost a 3-5k gold difference between Support and other laners. Think item 3097 is the only support item that brings it down to maybe 2k difference. Unless your support is straight taking all of the kills and the towers.

There's this weird double standard within items. Defensive items already cost less in general, so there's much, much less of a price difference between Solari (2200) and say, Sunfire (2900) than there is between Grail (2100) and Rabadon's (3800).

I'm personally for closing up that gap and giving all roles near-equal gold valued items. Also means patching up income for supports and junglers so they get a bigger share. Make, say, all items cost between 2800 and 3500 instead of having some be almost double the value of lower end items. Also, I have nothing against other lanes using support items, it means those items are finally actually worth something.

Patching up support income means there's no longer a support role. That role exists mostly so that the adc can get a bunch of gold. If the support can match carries in gold what's to stop people from putting carries in the support role?

The function of the character matters. I don't care who the 'Carry' of the team is, is the thing. If it happens to be the Marksman murdering everyone, why not. If the Enchanter Support player carries the team through the sheer efficiency of his buffs, i'm also 100% fine with that. If it's the Warden Tank managing to be unkillable and bothersome enough for his team to do the work, hell yes.

People seem to think Marksmen are the end-all be-all of every team, but that's false. Marksmen are not THE carries, and games can be won without them. They are Attack Damage Carries. All the same, i'm pushing for Enchanters to be Buffer Carries, and Wardens to be Tank Carries, and Mages to be Magic Damage Carries, and so on. Every champion in the game should have the opportunity and power, in kits AND items to be the carry of their team, from start to finish.

And yes, this means i'm pushing for massive core gameplay changes. I'm very aware. I'm also completely against Marksmen being walking targets for half the game, if that helps.

Each and every single one has a different role, and each and every single one is needed on a team, because counters still exist, and each are better at different things than others.

What you're talking is way outside the scope of this thread. Make a new discussion for this.
