Grievous Wounds back + Soraka Heavy Nerfs -- Sejuani Effect

Siegfriedx1··60 votes·4,453 views

Ok, i already saw this sejuani thing happen more than once. You guys nerf a champion because of X then X it's gone and don't revert the changes.

At least give back her ability to remove grievous wounds with her ult.

To those who don't know read below what is on pbe: Will now reduce all healing by 40%, not just self-healing.

As a Soraka main, I'm not particularly worried.

Not like adcs are generally willing to 'waste' 800 gold on an Executioner's Calling anyways. They'd just rather build more damage/crit items and then complain about Soraka more.

I thought this too as a Soraka main. Building that item for most ADCs would be a salty move that could hurt them more than help them.

The main problem for Sorakas will be the assassin mages mid game. The mages that build item 3165 and Katarina's ult.

assassin mages are probably gonna kill you heals or not as a squishy.

on the flip side, you don't have to worry much about people like Kassadin building that(he needs a bigger mana pool, not regen.)

Bodkins Odds2 votes

After the mage update, Morello will give four hundred mana instead of regen.

I am one of the top soraka players from brazil, with close to 700k mastery with her and i am afraid of this change. Maybe this can affect less low elo because they are less responsive to changes, but at master tier + it's where we should be looking the impact. Just remember that her numbers were tunned down because of this change [GW] in the past, now the change is going to revert back and GW can have potential to finish her if a change like this happens with a bunch of nerfs on top.

People most likely forget that GW can be applied on different ways and that morellonomicon is also a very common item. I just don't want to see other sejuani or warwick.

Krys Star10 votes

Soraka main here too, with 539k mastery (would be 50% more if she wasn't banned 4 out of 5 games). I've already voiced my concern to Meddler last week, that reverting GW is a great change to make Soraka healthy again, but her string of nerfs will leave her in a less than desirable state. His response was to allow Wish to remove GW again, but instead they're going to nerf her because she's too 'strong at present' as if GW reverting is going to affect her minimally.

Riot is lying to themselves at this point. Soraka pre-6.4 could survive this, but post-6.4 Soraka will be left weak and slightly crippled. She'll still have her slow, her silence, her snare, but in the end, the main reason to play Soraka, for her heals, will be impacted quite heavily by this. All we can do is pray Riot buffs her quickly, because the eighth set of nerf she's receiving on top of GW revert is going to hurt her. Bad.

Jorencice2 votes

Doesn't she still heal for like 500 plus on a 1.2 second cd with max build. She can laugh at grievous wounds.

I mean cmon she might go from 2nd best support to 5th...is that really that horrible? After all you could be a nunu support main with a 33% winrate.

ImmortalBloodCY1 votes

The main reason to play Soraka is not for her slow or silence/root but for her Heals.

Executioner's calling is a pretty crummy purchase and they'd definitely be losing power just to deal with Soraka, but Riot is removing Athene's and putting a lot of really important stuff for mages on Morellonomicon. It's one of the few remaining big ticket AP items, it's got a solid chunk of mana on it, and it's the only mage item that helps mages replenish their mana reserves without backing. It's going to be the go-to item for mages before even considering the grievous wounds passive. They don't give up anything to hard counter Soraka.

But at the same time its the mere fact that they can totally counter you with an 800 gold item. Like item 3123 makes you all but useless, you can't heal for shit, you don't have much cc, nor do you have much damage. On top of the fact that Rito is nerfing Soraka AGAIN in the same patch as the grievous wounds change.

Read the PBE: Base health-per-half second from Rejuvenation buff changed from 7/8/9/10/11 [+0.05 AP] to 6/6.5/7/7.5/8 [+0.075 AP]; Movement Speed strength of Rejuvenation buff decreased from 15% to 10%.

Plus the previous nerfs all together: Astral Infusion: Mana Cost increased from 40/45/50/55/60 to 50/55/60/65/70. Starcall [ Q ] Mana cost increased from 40 at all ranks to 40/45/50/55/60.

Thinking in the reasoning line of: "I hate playing against zed, let people buy zonhya for 1200 gold and do nothing to compensate because i hate him" It's not positive for the game, community or to you, actually. What we all want is a fair game, not dead champions with a few favorites on the top.

I'll agree when I can go in as an assassin and actually end up dealing damage to someone who Soraka is trying to keep alive.

You suck then, since Soraka can't stop 1 shots, which Assassins do.

How do you heal someone when the Assassin did 2.5k damage to a 1.8k hp champ in 1 second? I'll answer it for you since you will probably get it wrong. You don't.

ImmortalBloodCY2 votes

I had an Katarina with item 3285 come to kill my ADC, before I even managed to heal(or silence or exhaust her) my ADC she instantly killed it.

I couldnt even in react in time to protect my ADC and now they are nerfing her even more.

Assassins don't 1 shot unless you're fricking rengar. And you're totally not going to deal 2.5k in 1 second unless you're monstrously overfed and most probably full build.

It's quite obvious you play a lot of Soraka, and are thus biased towards her. I wasn't expecting sound, rational reasoning when it comes to assassins anyway.

Its always adorable hearing people use the "You main X since you don't agree with me" I rarely play her since she is garbage. But think what you will, bads will complain while people with brains dont think she is an issue.

Doesn't that mean that you're obviously biased against her? Since you play assassins, you obviously don't like Soraka cause she heals people, so you're biased against her due to her eliminating your ability to kill people.

(The main story is that everyone has a bit of bias. That doesn't invalidate opinions though)

You're right, I do have bias. But I wouldn't say that it is against her so much as it is against the lack of methods to deal with her.

But let's be honest, if an assassin goes all out, is fed, and suicides just to fail to get a kill because Soraka makes glasscannons tanky, then there might be something wrong with that imo.

The thing is, I bring up assassins, because burst is what counters sustain. Dps champions fare even worse off against raka.

I would say look at my champ history since I barely play her, but meh, can't argue with stupidity.

I know its rude and usually lolworthy when people say it. But all I can say to you is Get Good.

Ulquiorra9951 votes

Then again, assassins kill fast. In under 2 seconds unless you're bad at playing them. In 2 seconds, even with max CDR Soraka will be able to heal once. She'll heal for 200 + 60% AP (which she won't have a lot of, being with limited gold income), so let's say for 300-400 - and that's with being generous. If she hit Q on someone in last 4 seconds, she'll heal for additional 11 + 5% AP each half-second. During those 2 seconds, assuming she used it after an assassin's first damage spell, it will tick 3 times it will add a total of 33 + 15% AP. Even with all that combined, she won't be able to break a 500 HP heal before the target is assassinated. And since you are an assassin you are probably carrying Ignite, which will also reduce her healing by 40% with next patch. As an assassin, you should be able to easily break through ~400ish (250ish with Ignite) healed HP on a target with no additional HP or resistances of their own. You should fear a good defensive tank much more than you do with Soraka, as their CC can prevent a lot more damage and actually save someone.

And funny how you say you didn't expect sound, rational reasoning, and yet your reasoning fully consist of "I can't instakill someone as an assassin with no counterplay because someone heals them"

It's not like she can silence the assassin or anything. Or get 45% cdr so her primary heal is on a ~1 second cooldown. And it's not like she always has windspeakers blessing which increases the target's resists.

And it's not like her winrate and playrate are way over the top or anything. http://champion.gg/champion/Soraka

I don't only play assassins. I mentioned assassins because anyone with half a brain would know burst counters sustain.

I oftwn find myself playing juggernauts, and guess what? Unless I am WAY ahead and Soraka is WAY behind, there's no way I can kill someone she's healing.

You've already set aside rational reasoning when you outright tried to debase my intelligence. I will not be responding to your comments from here on out, as it is obvious that what you want going is not a discussion, but a so called "circlejerk."

TL;DR Cry me a river.

Ulquiorra9951 votes

I included 40% CDR in my calculations (still not used to 5% increased cap, sorry for that), but the difference in calculations is 0.1 seconds. True, silence field might be a bitch, but it can be played around.

You might hate it, but not being able to kill someone she's healing as a juggernaut is intended by design. Annoying as it might be, but intended. I recall one of the designers on her rework stating that as a prime healer, you'll absolutely want to focus her down first as she heals for so much that attacking someone she heals is pointless (or bring a heavy AoE champion like Brand; she can only heal one person at a time outside of her ultimate) - at least as a sustained DPS character, assassins and heavy burst mages should still have no problem deleting someone even through her heal.

That being said, adding MS boost when running away on her Q was stupid IMO. Being nearly defenseless when you jump her should be her weakness. A buff in that area is definitely not a good decision. They should've nerfed W even further and focused on Q being a main source of her power; made the buff far stronger and/or stack on hitting several people.

And no one tried to debase your intelligence. If anyone does that here it's you - saying that you don't expect rational comments while providing very few yourself. If you take me trying to prove you wrong by bringing up facts and calculations as an insult to your intelligence and crying, then have it your way.

Shonjl1 votes

Lol omg she is 55%, so broken. That is a bit high but not even anything to cry over extremely. The average is like 49-52% anyways, so she is a little better than average....woooo. You make it sound like she has a like 70% winrate like Runic Echo Udyr or Tank Ekko were/are.

Also get over yourself. You have no rational anything. You literally are pulling a child tamper tantrum with basically anything that goes against what you said is wrong and cried about. People like you are petty as hell when all you do is say this and anything that goes against it is called circlejerk or sheep lol. I honestly pity peons like you.

Not sure if troll or stupid.

Raka is never strong, people are just retarded. I know that is harsh but its true. She only has 2 builds, pure AP with heavy heals but no sustain and easy to kill, or Warmogs Raka which has infinite sustain but weak heals. One you focus her, the other you ignore her and you win. Or is Rakas little 200 heals with warmogs builds too strong for you when most damage dealers deal 600-1k+ every skill/auto.

Mmm... Raka meet Blitz (or Alistar, Thresh, Nautilus, Leona...) & any of the several ADC's with a root or stun option. She is immensely annoying for poke lanes to deal with but can be absolutely dealt with by hard engage that prevents who-ever gets picked from making an escape.

And I've dealt with Soraka as Sona any number of times... I just poke for gold instead of kill pressure early on barring massive mistakes made by anyone in lane and out-scale by mid game onwards.

Why Sejuani effect? Can you explain me please

KVbqbFsC8e19 votes

A champion becoming strong because of a broken item, resulting in Riot nerfing the champion. Then later on realizing the item is the problem and nerfing the item, leaving the champ in a poor spot.

In this case, Soraka gets nerfed, but with an effect getting buffed that will counter her somewhat, those nerfs may make her unviable.

lxl RockBall lxl1 votes

Unviable sounds pretty exagerate, calm down...

Nobody builds item 3033(Mortal Reminder) on an AD Champion because they never knew of that item, dont think that just because Morellonomicon is a tad more expensive people wont get it.

Since Grievous Wounds now reduces ALL HEALING by 40%(that means lifesteal/spellvamp too) an AOE champion(Amumu/Fiddlesticks/Lissandra/Lux/Lulu/Ryze/Heimerdinger[and others i forgot]) can use Morellonomicon without a problem and quite easily.

Riot is simply doing changes without properly investigating the issue. Soraka's core identity is her Healing and Utility she brings in her team.

I don't understand why no one builds it. The item is insane. It applies that stupid debuff on any physical damage at any health level.

Nasus? Dead. Mundo? Might as well run his gimp skin. Swain? Fucked. While I wouldn't build it against teams if they don't have someone with heavy heavy healing, I'm certain the denied healing is better than the 15% damage from item 3036 . Not to mention that you can have the same debuff (shorter duration) for 800g

Won't happen. She is and will still be oppressive because of her champion design. The fact that they have to change an entire game mechanic to counter one single champion just proves how problematic she really is.

angery pout1 votes

The reason Soraka was so out of control preseason up to now was because she countered the new Grievous Wounds and essentially nullified it. She wasn't nearly as cancerous with the old GW because her usefulness was essentially halved. Maybe the pre-rework Soraka was broken but that's because she had targeted silence, ability to restore mana, burst heals, and MR shred on a spammable ability.

Multiple champions have become broken due to specific mechanics or items. Soraka's just worse because of how low interactivity is when playing against her.
