Suggestion: Prevent the playing champs in Ranked unless they are Mastery 3 or higher.

Exactly what it says on the tin. Make it impossible to select champions in Ranked unless that player has a mastery of 3 or higher. Normal and Blind pick are unaffected. Those would be the queues that you are intended to learn said champions.

It's a simple win-win solution. Stops people from feeding on new champs they don't understand yet, as well as eliminating those that choose champs to play in ranked, saying "first time ______".

so you have to have 16 champs mastery lvl 3+ and can't trade anymore?

Nope. Idea sucks just as much as it always has every time someone brings it up.

Why not just say you aren't allowed to play champions you have a negative winrate with, or you aren't allowed to play champing you don't have a skin for since skins are scientifically proven to make you better.

It's been suggested several times before and shot down every time. It's not a viable idea.

The issue with this is that I've got mastery 3 on only a few champions, but I often pick champions I'm inexperienced with not to play them myself, but to trade them to other people on my team that do play them. If I can only pick champions that I'm mastery 3 on or higher, I can suddenly only trade a few champions, rather than the entire pool of champions I own.

TL;DR: No, people still need to be able to trade away champions even if they don't play them. If you can find a workaround to that maybe, but not it's important not to inhibit that.

What if we also add in a time limit since your last game? Since if you haven't played within X days, you can definitely not be 'mastery 5' on that champion. So let's say mastery 3 or higher and played within the last 7 games. Otherwise you get rusty.

I will first time in ranked if the team needs it. I play support, and first timed many of them in ranked, and played no worse than I did with other champions.

Wrong.

This idea has numerous flaws. It makes trading nearly impossible for most people. It also makes it take a long time to build up a champion pool to have counterpicks open.

Sure it has benefits, but it's far from a win-win or no-lose situation, due to flaws.

Not the first or the last time this is suggested, and every time it's just as bad.
