I've figured out why Yasuo is too strong

It's because of item 3046's passive.

Back in season 5 and earlier, Yasuo always built item 3087 as his first item. Ever since the marksman rework when Phantom Dancer was changed, Yasuos started to build it more and more. After that item 3046 item 3078 build cropped up (back when Trinity had crit) it was here to stay.

Phantom Dancer's passive is too strong is the problem. It gives 12% reduced damage while giving more attack speed than all the other zeal items. A 12% damage difference between you and your laner at ONE item is ridiculously powerful. That's the equivalent of fighting someone that has 1.5 Infernal Drakes when you have none.

Yasuo should win lane and be strong because he outplayed his opponent, not because he's stat checking them with insanely strong damage reduction that in no way affects his damage.

Should Yasuo be able to build item 3046? Of course, he has the right to make that choice, but right now it's too strong. This is exactly like what happened to item 3116 (an item gives too many stats and serves as both offensive and defensive with no downside). It needs either it's attack speed reduced to make it more defensive, or it needs it's Lament passive damage reduction to be reduced.

He's strong because of his double crit passive. Not because of the items. He builds 2 crit items and then goes full AD and pretty much one shots anyone with a 2000 + crit auto attack as a result. Throw item 3072 in there and give him crazy sustain as well.

Its honestly just the passive. His double crit passive needs to go or he'll never be balanced. That passive alone is one of the best passive in the game because its such a huge chunk of free power.

Are you sure the two very valid, strong passives co existing aren't part of the problem? The infinite mobility so long as a wave of minions is approaching or there? When you mix that much mobility to get in and out with the common sense to go in with a existing wave there and new wave coming incase you have to escape... it's definitely a tough champion to deal with while he's 2X crit chancing you AND negating some damage via an entirely second passive beyond an incredible 2X crit passive.

The damage reduction passive on a damage item is rather controversial. But I'm not sure I can complain because we tanks have sunfire cape.

While I don't think Yas is too strong at all right now, I do agree that shiv yas is far more balanced than PD yas.

its because of fervor of battle.

yasuos early game strength comes from spamming auto attack animation cancels, which allows him to become a surpreme lane bully in combination of fervor.

auto attack resets and animation cancels are already an incredibly strong tool in early duels. but together with fervor, this means that he can rapidly stack bonus ad in already short trades, and get even more out of his ability to attack more often than his opponent.

fuck that fervor buff, and fuck that mastery altogether. i wish theyd nerf it again or just remove it.

its not yasuo. i switched back to fiora recently. everyone who can use fervor right now becomes a massive lane bully early on. the problem is, that these same champions are also often scaling into mid and lategame carries.
