Suggestion: Soraka Changes from a life time Soraka Main

Hey, i'm a guy with 770.000 mastery points with Soraka that play since season 3 almost with only her! I have been everything from silver to master tier and i have something to say!

I finally could pin point some of the major problems both to who play against her and to who plays with her and i believe those could be solved by the list below! I hope a Rioter could see this to give his/her blessing!

Problems to who faces her: Too aggressive, strong and spamming lane phase on the right hands Too low cooldown on a skill that serves as self healing [specially if you are not healing at all] No really specific mechanic to avoid her approaches on kills Too frustraste and non interactive Absurdly frustrating and non interactive when with warmog against harass teams.

Problems to who play her:

Although should be a target for assassins, it's also a target for anything else it should not. Specially mid-late game. No mechanic to work on team fights with high damage output No snowballing potential to when playing good as Janna with mejai [soraka was over nerfed on her ap stats] or leona roaming No specific mechanic on team fights aside from healing

Nerfs: 1-Completely Remove Starcall Slow 2-Heavily Increase Starcall cooldown [from 4 to something like 12 seconds] 3-Heavily increase mana cost [to something like 130] 4-Reduce equinox damage on first activation and increase its damage on second activation [to reduce free harass potential]. 5-Decrease her base movement speed Edit[taking in consideration some reddit feedback]: 6-Let the damage you take when healing disable Warmog effect. 7-Wish don't grant assistance if the ally was close to full life when healed.

Changes: 1-Greatly Increase Rejuvenation Healing scaling [Scaling now with ap and health regen]. 2-Allow rejuvenation to stack it's effects when landing on more than 1 champion 3-Allow equinox to heavily slow if you land Starcall before 4-Allow Soraka to gain way more movement speed when landing it. 5-Heavily reduces starcall cooldown if landing in more than 1 target [to 4-3 seconds again] 6-Softly reduces starcall cooldown if landing one auto attack after using it, what refreshes some of the mana cost, deal extra damage and heal a small amount of health. The damage, health and extra mana gained increase if Soraka lands starcall on more than 1 target. 7-Soraka have an exclusive alternative version of Mejai on her shop that also provide some extra health regen per assistance, increase her healings, give less ap and cost less. 8-If equinox root someone that was affected by starcall, equinox deal bonus damage on both activations.

Consequences of the changes: Soraka start having a very responsive lane phase defined by landing her Starcall and initiating either with auto attack to gain mana and cooldown back or with a full combo with equinox. Either way becoming more predictable and allowing response. Flashing or dashing her Starcall start being a very important and meaningful outplay on her kit that open windows to start a fight. In the same way, missing an starcall become a major sin that can cost you the game. Soraka become more vulnerable to assassins as her Starcall have higher cooldown and don't slow. Although her Regen on mid-late game become way more significant, it still don't really affect how assassins kill her as its a healing over time process.
Soraka become less vulnerable to melee and non organized engages that come in team fights. Soraka become more effective in team fights where more than 1 enemy can be hit by starcall creating an ideal situation to play with her. Not only this allow her to use starcall again shortly but also applies her a constant movement speed boost that allow her to make flashier plays and be present during the entire team fight. It should be easy to spot a soraka that is playing really well and avoid all skill shoots. Having a Mejai option to soraka as a support also allow her to have a highrisk high reward pattern of play style that have even more openings to kill her early on and rewards her mid-late game for a flawless gameplay. Having her ult not working as a assistance machine also helps to force some interactivity.

Overall, it become more satisfying to Soraka mains to play her as we can shine with meaningful decisions [if we land on both players on bot lane for example], if we are in a crowded team fights and because we have a better mid-late game to look forward because of rejuvenation scalling. To the enemy team, it become more satisfying to fight Soraka as, for an assassin, she is easier to kill, outplay, land skill shoots and predict her actions. Facing a soraka that breaks the pattern you are waiting for becomes a big deal and open space for recognition.

The goal is to have you say: "wow this soraka is really good!" or "damn we messed up against her" instead of "soraka is broken".

And yes, i think Soraka is broken. Not because she is op, but because she, since her release, never was where she was meant to be. My opinion is that what we have today is a half-way work that put some band-aids called Rejuvenation and a strong lane phase as a rushed way to fix her win rate without actually fixing the champion the way it should. I hope we can talk about her again to listen from Riot their opinions about what's her future.

Thank you very much!

I like the idea, I think soraka need to be put on a spot where if the player is good with her he goin to make substantial difference on the line, map and team fights but on the same time she can be easily killed if she makes any mistake and outplayed. Really nice idea !!!!! I'm a main adc and i play against soraka all the time and she is not weak but is not that fun to play against or with her, i think on this way she goin to be super more fun to play against or with.Soraka Soraka [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I totally agree that Soraka is broken as a champion (not in the strength sense but the absolutely nonfunctional kit) but I personally have to disagree with your proposed changes (although they would be MUCH better than just leaving her as is).

I mained Soraka from the end of season 1 until the 4.17 patch, at the end of that patch I had her removed from my account. I still love the character Soraka and very much care about her future but nothing short of a total overhaul will bring me back to her. When the first rework was looming we say a lot of really cool rework ideas. We knew all too well that Morello hates healers and would never let a real designated healer exist but we couldnt imagine that we would get this abomination of a sanguiomancer in our beloved Sorakas place. They traded the support with the highest tactical skill cap in the game for a skillshot based "LCS big plays" machine that they knew would perpetually be unealthy, constantly bouncing between broken and trash. I have already buried the Soraka that I fell in love with and made me fall in love with League, I know theres no getting her back even though I would trade every IP, RP, Champion and Skin on my account for her. but if they gave a rework an honest try and actually put some effort into this one I would be more than willing to buy her again.

Good luck bringing the starchild to a healthy place, I hope someday Riot lets you get as much joy out of her as I did.

Thank you for your reply!

I think that what they did with soraka was a way to make her balanced on low elos but making sure she would not get picked on very high ones. They over invested in her lane phase [knowing that never was her core identity] and gave up on her healing and self-peeling capacities on her mid late game.

I once had this idea of reworking Soraka into a "third-person spell vamp" champion. My kit sketch went something like this.

P: Astral Blessing Soraka's resource is Astral Blessing, which has its own secondary bar under her health bar. A full Astral Blessing bar empowers Soraka's next ability. The bar replenishes itself over time, and also fills up whenever Soraka takes damage, damages an enemy champion, or receives a heal.

Q: Starcall A beam of starlight shines down at a target location, slowing enemies champions in the area. After 0.875 seconds, the star falls at the location, damaging, knocking away from the star's impact point, and stunning enemies in the area. The damage and knock-back distance scales both with ability power and current Astral Blessing. Basic attacks and nearby spell casts reduce the cooldown of this ability by 1 second each.

Cooldown: somewhere around 9 to 14 seconds

W: Astral Infusion Soraka consumes all her Astral Blessing to create a mini-fountain, healing all ally units and damaging enemy units standing in it, healing more the more Astral Blessing is expended.

Empowered: Healed ally receives a damage buff for several seconds, and each of their attacks and damaging spells replenish a little bit of Soraka's Astral Infusion.

Cooldown: around the same as Nami's W

E: Wish On Ally Cast: Soraka enchants an ally, causing them to heal all other team members around it equal to a portion of the damage they deal and take for several seconds.

On Enemy Cast: Soraka curses an enemy, causing them to suffer a burst of damage equal to an amount of damage they have dealt in the last 2.5 seconds.

Empowered: increases affected ally's movement speed for a few seconds (ally cast); deals more damage and slows enemies.

R: Equinox Soraka calls upon all the stars, and they respond by raining down all their light, thus creating a zone around her or an ally, healing both allies and enemies in it for large amounts of heath second. While in the zone, nothing with a health bar can die - towers included (but they don't receive the healing... or should it?).

Equinox is a twist off Kindred's ult, since I figured it works better on Soraka anyways, and I think it's agreeable Kindred has no use for it.

I didn't say nothing man! I agree, we need to rise up and inform Riot Soraka is not healthy for League of Legends and needs a complete VGU.

On that note, I am always anxious for a Darius rework too. He tickles my autism like nothing else.

Also the suggestion was never to gut her. Just to make her better when someone play her better [with an mid-late game with more self peel against non-assassins] and allow some counterplay on her aggressive stuff.

What about something like TK passive? A mechanic that soraka need to execute something X times to trigger a greater equinox effect?

What about this, I got a good one!

What about...

Stop enforcing shitty, nonsensical ideas on a firmly balanced champion for no plausible reason other than to ensure they are rid of from the game, onto an already gullible company prone to unwarranted, detestable decisions. What agitates me enough as it is is the concept of champion reworks being so prevalent against the wishes of loyalists that have worked hard to get where they are. Take Zac and Maokai for example.

People like you are primarily on the top of my list of what ruins this game. Stay the fuck away from Soraka with what rubbish you propose and do not claim you know anything about her, your real intent is glaringly obvious and unjustified.

It's not because you play a game that makes you have enough game design experience to say the kind of things you are saying. I'm not going to use failures as excuses to not go after what is better for the game. Riot makes mistakes and so do everyone, and as everyone they need time to fix.

Stop being so stuck in your internal mind hell of helplessness and let people that actually care about those characters express their opinions and feelings about it. No innovation would ever be made if you can only think about what can go wrong.

Ignoring this wall of bullshit, and the only (last) thing I will unsarcastically/ironically inform you, if you want to fill Riot's head with ideas about Soraka, go for Nami next for no other reason than she has no innate waveclear that makes her unable to perform a solo lane role at all, therefore being limited in what she does.

Because that is all I can think of to match your logic in fucking with Soraka. And my proposal in itself makes next to no sense.

Why do you even bother to comment this kind of stuff? I have more games with Soraka than you have on all your champions on your entire account. This character is not fine in the way you believe she is.

Listen, Soraka have a huge meaning for me and even if you just don't care you are always invited to create your own post on the subject [if you believe something is wrong with nami for example].

If you think Soraka don't need any kind of changes you need to understand i disagree with you with all my heart. After playing so much, during so many years with her i have a vision about her. Also your nami suggestion is motivated as you wanting her to be a solo laner [???] what already show you are not carrying about her support role anyway to begging with.

Riot games need to listen to my feedback too. If you don't agree that i should have a voice this is something between you and you, but my experience with this champion and all the time i invested on it say to me words i understand you still didn't listen to.

Did you play before the 4.17 patch? I agree champion overhauls are toxic to the game and community. Way back at the Karma rework my friends and I all realized that this was Riots way of killing champions but I would have honestly rather had them kill Soraka in lore and remove her from the game than give us the abomination we have today. Her current kit was designed to be overpower for a while then get nerfed into the ground so she would never be competitive again. As someone who used infuse to give myself mana every day for months on end as I fell in love with League, I think any deviation from the kit of today is a step in the right direction.

Riot has shown us: Nothing is sacred, taking time and effort to truly master and main a single champion through all the nerfs and buffs is a waste of time in their eyes and they will ALWAYS punish you for it. LCS big plays are only allowed on FOTM champs, taking the time to get good on a champ that others think is weak means you arent buying skins for new champs as you have to learn them to win. Its a sound business decision on their part but the 4.17 patch shattered my faith in Riot as the "good guys" of the gaming industry. I was honestly planning on trying to work for them as a community manager when I finished my community psych degree but I reconsidered real quick after that.
