Jayce could be so much more.
Jayce is a champion with a unique identity. He is a ranged bruiser. The way I see Jayce in concept, is as a champion that has the ability to build like a juggernaut, or a full AD caster, depending on the play style that he wants to adopt.
It can be said that Jayce is a bit weak, and is in need a minor buff, but this thread is more focused on the way he is played.
When I got Jayce, I based his play style on what I saw on his champion spotlight, a champion that could either build Hammer (tanky), or Cannon (damage bby). I've mained him since the beginning, and I even main him today (and Bard too <3), I try to force him to be a juggernaut, and it almost works. It feels right to play him like one, but his kit just doesn't support it stat wise. However, ability wise, it does, and it makes things awkward when you want to jump in and activate you Lightning Field, but you realize you'll get 1 shot if you do.
I think that Jayce should receive some small changes to his kit that focus on providing these two build paths on Jayce. His Cannon stance is already all damage already, so I'm going to focus on his Hammer Stance, and some other parts of his kit. Here are my ideas (Note: Not all of them have to be implemented, it's just some ideas that I've thought of that would help):
Possible Buffs:
- Increase Hammer Stance resistance bonuses to 10/20/30/40 from 5/15/25/35 (Remember, Hammer Stance=Tanky Stance).
- Add a shield to Jayce's W Lightning Field that scales with 10/12/14/16/18/20% BONUS HP (We're trying to make it work only for a tanky build path).
- Add an BONUS AD Scaling of 1 (compensation for AD Jayce as a result of the increased cooldown).
- Jayce gets permanent life steal in Hammer Stance only.
- Jayce's passive bonus increased to a duration of 1.75 seconds from 1.25 seconds (compensation for heavy cooldown increase).
- Jayce's Lightning Field steals 5 Armor and MR per tick for all enemies in the area, which slowly deteriorates for 5 seconds after finished use.
Possible Nerfs:
- Cooldown to Jayce's stance switching increased to 9/8/7/6 from 6 at all levels.
- Cooldown to Jayce's W Lightning Field increased to 15/14/13/12/11/10 from 10 at all levels.
It's obvious that not all of these changes are to go through, but I think it's a good idea that we provide two separate build paths for Jayce to be able to take. It adds a new play style to Jayce and fits the theme he was meant to fit from the beginning. A ranged bruiser.
