Bruiser Jayce Needs A Buff (Open to Suggestions)

So, when Jayce was released, he was intended to be used as either a bruiser, or a AD Caster. Last patch, Jayce was nerfed in response to his powerful burst as a full AD champion. Unfortunately, this nerf brought down Bruiser Jayce with it. Bruiser Jayce relies heavily on his ranged W's damage as he doesn't have any abilities that scale with health or anything of the sort. So he uses his w to substitute for his lower damage. Now that Jayce was nerfed, his AD build has been somewhat balanced, but his already weak bruiser build really took a hard hit. So how do you fix this?

I think that there are 2 simple changes that can be used to buff bruiser Jayce, while keeping AD Jayce balanced. Here are the changes that I propose: Have his hypercharge do increased damage in hammer stance. Bruiser Jayce relies mainly on his Hammer stance for his additional Armor and MR that allow him to function like a bruiser. So if we had his W do say 120% or 130% damage in Hammer Stance, bruiser Jayce would get some of his damage back. AD Jayce wouldn't be able to use this damage very well as he would die instantly the second he leaps into battle, and wouldn't be able to escape even if survived since all he has is his speed buff. This was mainly the reason AD Jayce was so strong, he could pump out damage much like other casters, except from a range, where he was relatively safe.

Another change that would benefit Bruiser Jayce only would be to have his melee W (his somewhat useless electric field) scale with his bonus health. This would allow a tanky Jayce to jump in and soak up damage for his teammates, as well as deal some back.

I personally like the idea of his hammer w applying a mark to enemies that jayce can proc with autos or spells to gain a small bonus health based shield. So he only gets any tankier if he is in the thick of the fight and is building defensivly.

To be honest making changes on Jayce would be one of the best things Riot have done in a while. He got as much cooldowns like Sion in both mercury cannon and hammer form. Why they made it this way seems unclear due to the fact that unlike Jayce Sion can handle the cooldowns because he can take any damage they throw at him, jayce on the other hand is not even half as tanky as sion which means they stripped him of all reasonable chance to last in this meta while other champs like riven, irelia and such got nearly no cooldowns and got a ridicules damage burst, shields or any other form for sustain. Hell even the true damage shit.

Please take some insight in jayce and put that champ back in the meta by giving him a propper rework so that we can atleast mix things up instead of seeing the same selected champs in every game. To be a game with over a 100 champions we don't really see more than 20 different ones because most is left out.

You are absolutely right Jayce needs a simple and very well coordinated buff to bring some of his presence back into the game. Let me tell you I've been playing league about 2 years now and I've played Jayce more than enough to know where his weaknesses lie. His first problem and his biggest problem is his mana usage... It's incredible how quickly he can burn an entire supply of mana in a single trade and yes although he passive gains mana back per hit it's not enough to support his kit and Jayce is just weaker and more susceptible to punishment in hammer form. A suggestion for that would be perhaps give jayce mana back, just like hammer stance would, but in melee form (perhaps every three or even four hits). That way he can mana/farm without having crazy sustain and he can actually stay in lane and contend. His second and probably worst damage issue which you addressed is his W aura ability. To be completely honest it does not provide any utility or value to his kit whatsoever the scaling is possible the weakest I've seen the damage is mediocre even when going full AP which isn't recommended but yeah...and Jayce is an all in all out champ he isn't going to follow an enemy for 4 seconds trying to keep them in aura he wants to trade and book it. For the aura I have a few ideas 1.) get ride of ap scaling again like you suggested and base the growth on a another factor (armor, health, attack damage and ap combined you name it just change the ratio. 2.) give jayce a small armor and mr increase the longer he is able to keep enemies in his aura and let it stack with multiple enemies (not anything crazy maybe just 2.5 armor per second per champ not like you'll get all five in that little aura at once always so. 3.) this one is a bit far fetched but. What if he could use his aura to block projectiles and every time a projectile hit him while aura ran it would lower the aura run time by 1 second this provides protection and a hard engage 4.) what If having enemies in your aura marked them allowing Jayce to do ap basic attacks based on bonus ad maybe like 8% of his ad is converted to ap procs on basics on top of normal ad. 5.) I've always thought this would be a good idea, what if dealing damage with aura gradually increased based on the damage its done like a Nasus q but slower obviously

jayce was never designed with bruiser in mind

Hes a melee AD carry

always was always will be.

However he lacks some of the defensive measures that other melee carrys have like wind wall alpha strike/meditate

he needs some kind of defensive ability that won't turn him into another cancer "build 1 damage item 4 defensive items and deal damage like you're full ad" champ
