Call me Devil's Advocate, but...
call me devil's advocate, but...
I think the following champions are some of the best design in all of League:
Now, most of these listed champions have pretty big hate groups, but I don't care about that. The fact that they are polarizing is a Good Thing in my opinion. I added Yasuo specifically because the hate group brought him to my attention.
These champions are indisputably unique. they are fun to play. they are dynamic. some of them have odd requirements. some of them utilize mechanics completely unavailable to other champions, or use them in crazy ways. They have playstyles that reflect this, and those play styles are rarely if ever mimicked.
Even more than all of this, THEY AREN'T OVERPOWERED! Sure some have been strong at this time or that time, but it has NEVER been their overall power that makes them stand out: its the fact that they play so differently that makes them stand out. Maybe they're hard to react to. Maybe they force you to think in a different way than you are used to. But isn't that beautiful?
- Who else in the game makes you afraid of your own minions? NOBODY
- Who can win a triple kill just by running away and taunting?
- Who can abuse items never meant for him, play every role in the game, and never be busted because of it? Eh... well two of these actually.
If you're starting to get it now, these champions are the best Because they do everything you hate. Because they aren't what you want or expect them to be. Because they do things no one else would even consider. They accomplish the impossible, and they do it every single day. These, and a bare few others are the best designs ever released in League history. To date.
. Compared to the rest of the cast, their visual design is miles above anything else in the game. Their voice over work is also much more nuanced and professional than anyone else, and their animations are also among the best in the game. Watching someone else playing Kindred and using their Q had me hooked immediately. Their hunt mechanic offers a unique spin on jungling and target picking, and they fit the idea of a duo character pretty damn well on top of it all.
embodies sustained/delayed damage better than any other marksman with her rend mechanic
In spite of some broken interactions with items right now, Kha's isolation mechanic is a great take on the role of assassin without relying on upfront insane burst
when tuned well plays exactly how you'd want a slowly forward-marching unstoppable juggernaut to play
