When there is a malz or lissandra on the enemy team you need to build a item 3222 . Stop building thornmail and sunfire capes. you are not going to be the focus of the enemy team over your fed katarina or jhin. You are not going to kill master yi with a thornmail on your blitzcrank. thornmail will discourage enemies even more from attacking YOU putting more reason for them to kill your carries.

The mid laner should take cleanse or sac an item spot for QSS to remain as anything more than a one shot target for suppressing and stunning ults, But many won't because they don't know what the fuck to do. They just want to dive in 1v5 and get a pentakill :) It will protect your adc from the same stupid shit click R to win ultimates. Is it really click R to win? or is it click R to win if they wont build QSS or mikaels? high elo players -- plz let me know if im wrong.

Build this item when your team needs it! It is not purchased 9/10 games your team needs it.

This bit of advice comes from playing with people who finished gold5-gold1 last season. Even players in the top 30% are not smart enough to realize what they need to get to help their team and instead build a selfish item appropriate for a tanky top laner or jungler that actually does damage.

You know that Cleanse and QSS won't purge Supression, right?

Mikaels won't help anyone versus malz, beyond the bit of healing. Similarly, cleanse would be wasted on a mid laner against malz.

I generally wouldn't want to build mikeals against a single source of cc on most champs. If the adc isn't building a qss, it probably implies they're not very good to begin with, so you're probably better off building more team-wide utility in the form of a locket or redemption or similar.

Sunfire/thornmail aren't good support items though, this much is true.
