Nautilus identity, and health as a champion

I have loved Nautilus since his inception, but I think really needs a rework, for 2 reasons. Firstly is the TITANIC disconnect between the nature of his character and the nature of his kit. He's this massive 15 foot tall juggernaut of living steel, infused and animated with unknowable eldritch power. Wielding an anchor the size of a small truck as a weapon. Now, not only is he strong enough to swing this thing with one hand, he can f----ing chuck this, at least, 10,000 lb hunk of brass and iron like a god damn shot put ball.

What is his role in game? He's a massive punching bag, that deals no damage and brings assloads of CC to the table, but has no way of pressuring even squishy champions on his own. About as far as possible from the imposing titan portrayed in A New Dawn

Which brings me to my second reason. Balance.

Nautilus's kit is VERY strong. It is absolutely loaded with value. Value that is very hard to gauge or quantify do to the vague power of CC. This creates a real balance problem for RITO. Since Nauts kit revolves around having more CC than anyone else in the game, and can become very oppressive and frankly, just feel unfun and unfair to play against when he can lock you down for 6 seconds by himself. Laning against a Nautilus when he is ahead, or just strong in the current meta, feels like fighting against the tide. Utterly useless. This leaves him in a really bad possession where RITO leaves him safely under-tuned, since you can never truly gut utility, and should he ever rise to the top of the meta for some unforeseen reason, they are swift to administer nerfs within 1 or 2 patches. Nautilus is always towing the line between, average pick and no-fun-allowed oppression, never in between. Never healthy.

I'm not saying he's in as dire need of a rework as some other champs (good lord someone please help Aatrox ) but he is definitely a champion that should be on Riots radar for a partial, if not full rework

While I see your point about the thematic disconnect, you can't completely realise it for most tanks in this game....

Let's take a look at some tanks. Amumu Cursed to bring destruction to anyone close to him. Should deal tons of damage. Braum Was able to punch through a whole mountain. Should deal tons of damage. Galio Is a gigantic living statue. Should deal tons of damage. Leona Is the host of the aspect of the sun. Should deal tons of damage. Malphite Living mountain. Should deal tons of damage. Maokai Control over nature itself. Should deal tons of damage. Ornn Demigod with control over fire and earth. Should deal tons of damage. Poppy Wielder of an ancient almighty weapon. Should deal tons of damage. Sejuani Leader of a warband riding on a gigantic pig. Should deal tons of damage. Sion Zombie strong enough to fight Galio. Should deal tons of damage. TahmKench Demon who is making contracts to eat you alive. Should deal tons of damage.

You see what I mean? In this game, all these characters are exceptional beings wielding unordinary power. If you take their lore into consideration, all of them should be heavy damage threats. There are actually just very few champions in the game who shouldn't deal much damage when you look at their lore.

IMO, the problem is the onus was shifted from his W to his E to bring him more in line with other AoE tanks. That was silly. Making his E spam a requirement taxed his archaic mana pool where as before his damage came from the on hit splash of his W active. That was much more interesting.

His worth has also been trivialized due to CC creep.
