its just a huge clusterfuck of stat checking at this point.
Yeah, that's...not quite how stat-checking works. Like at all.
As an example of a stat-check, look at something like Kayle or old Aatrox. Essentially they get close to you, then pull out a spreadsheet and put on the business glasses. Then they check to see how the stats compare. If they had higher ones, they win. ADCs can also be guilty of this in some cases as a lot of their power is in unavoidable autos.
A clusterfuck of statchecking would be:
- Lots of point-and-click champions are absurdly strong. (Garen, Volibear, Fiddlesticks, etc.)
- The benefit of playing a non-stat-check (Skillshots, small aoes, etc) isn't high enough to justify playing them.
- Mechanically simple champs are best. Y'know: Tanks.
And yeah, the popular argument is "GAME NOT STRATEGY NO MORE" (which I still disagree with) but even a champion that boards hates like Zed or Yasuo still have avenues to fuck up in escape, skillshots or otherwise. Overall, game's not as stat-check-y as it was earlier. Argue the other stuff at your leisure.
