Ey yo, when going 9 defense, why the hell do people grab 3% hp

srsly now this is retarded if you do not intend to build hp at all

3% hp at 3k hp is only 90hp.

Like, am i insane in thinkng that 2 armor or 2 mr will over the course of a teamfight net you more than 90 hp?

can someone explain why 90 hp>2 armor or mr?

2 Armor or 2 MR are only useful against specific kinds of damage. The 90 HP is useful against ANY damage, and the extra couple of HP is most important early game when that can mean the difference between winning or losing an all-in. The 90 HP end game doesn't matter, but the 2 armor and 2 MR ALSO don't matter end game, and early game, they matter even less. Honestly though, it's going to be an incredibly minor difference one way or the other, but the 3% HP at least scales well with the other points you've spent in the tree.

tbh, i have the exact opposite opinion on early game lol. I mean, lets say you have 500 hp, that's only 15 hp difference. I feel like 2 armor or mr will easily net you 15 hp over the course of an auto/ability or two. 2 armor certainly does ALOT vs minions, otherwise nobody use armor runes.

I agree, late game it's negligible.

HP is a stronger general defense.

Also armor/mr makes you 1% harder to kill per point. So 2 armor or 2 MR is the same as having 2% more HP facing those damages. If someone needs 3k damage to kill you, now they need 3060. Where as with 3% more Hp they'd need 3090 no matter their damage type. Including true damage.

And this becomes less effective as you have more armor/mr.

Say you have 50 armor and 2k hp. This brings your effective Hp to 3k. Adding 2 more armor brings this to 3040. Even less EH.

Now if you add in 3% Hp. Now you're at 2060Hp. Times 1.5(50 armor) and you have the 3090 again.

Not only is it less effective HP, it only guards vs one of the three damage types.

Only time it may shine is when shields and heals are involved. Where armor/mr makes them worth more per HP point. Even then it's iffy and still only vs one type of damage.

HP > all other stats

even 60 hp >> 2 resist

if you take 2000 magic damage, 2 MR will protect you against 20-40 damage if you take 1200 magic damage and 1200 physical, 2 MR protects you against 12-24

Because, its only one point unlike Enchanted Armor, it blocks all types of damage including True Damage, its good for early game, and its not like masteries are meant to give you a huge advantage over anyone else, its just there for a bit as you level up and want this over that to beat this guy specifically and have early game stats. So, say you have 700 base health, you still get 21 more for one point. That's more than the other health mastery's one point, and only outranked by I think 3 HP on the second point, and in your example, with 3000 health, over 3x as much as the 3 points in it.
