Undying rage: "Usable even when under the effects of hard crowd control."

I've noticed that if a Tryndamere is fed and has red buff what or who can stop him if he can become invincible for 5 seconds regardless of cc? Where's the counterplay?

Well for a start, CC that blocks auto attacks (Stuns, Long Range Snares, Knock Ups). Then there's CC that will simply keep him far away from your carries (Long Range CC, Physical Tank kits that have CC, virtually any Knock Back in the game).

Tryndamere's only really op in 1v1 situations because most champions aren't outright strong enough to duel him fast enough to pop his ult quickly, while at the same time holding enough defensive steroids to survive the duration of the ult. An example of a champion who can do that, for example, is an equally fed Raid Boss Trundle. In any other situation though, Tryndamere is easy to kite if you have others near you that can all contribute to the CC. AP Morgana all by herself for example will probably die quickly, but Tanky Support Morgana standing next to an AP Ahri who knows when to time her Charm can easily destroy Tryndamere.

Not to mention Tryndamere is just awkward as hell in full 5v5 fights, unless the enemy comp is just really badly designed. At that though, as is many other situations where Tryndamere is "op", that's not Tryndamere's fault. This is on the fault of Tryndamere's enemies doing absolutely retarded things, like building teams with no CC or peel potential or trying to run around all alone when there's an enemy Tryndamere running around.

He won't die during those 5 seconds. That doesn't mean you can't lock him down and get away. He's not immune to CC or damage, just death. Burn off his Undying Rage when he's out of range for his own attacks and he'll feel like he wasted it. Ignite lasts for the same duration, so if you wait till he ults and tag him with it, it'll still be ticking when Undying Rage ends. If he's at the threshold of death, it has a shot of ending him. If he's not, the Grievous Wounds will screw with his healing and soften him up for a real killshot.
