What if Blitzcrank could pull allies in game?

Rovert duBelmont··5 votes·1,071 views

His lore shows him capable of doing so, and I bet this could make for some sick plays.

There are some concerns, though:

  1. Gives Blitzcrank playmaking potential too similar to Thresh (on top of q-hook similarities)
  2. Player agency of the ally being pulled is compromised. However, there are precedents in game where abilities with a similar problem more than make up for it with their utility (examples that come to mind include tahm kench w and kalista ult)

Overall, I think this could be an awesome change for Blitzcrank. Of course, it would have to be in exchange for some power blitz currently has. Some options that come to mind are:

  1. Reduced damage somewhere (I thought of taking it from q first, but that could possibly take away the decision making between using q on an enemy or an ally)
  2. Reduced movement speed on w (this is more for those scenarios where a blitz and amumu are on the same team. With this new functionality, blitz could pull his own amumu into the enemy team, virtually a free gapcloser. The reduced movement speed could make it more telegraphed?)

What do the people of the boards think?

i feel that would open up alot of trolling possibility, such as saving the enemy by pulling your team, pulling your teamate to die with you, and other things like that.

I had anticipated this. Is this different enough from a kalista, tahm kench, or even Thresh from doing the same thing? Or when alistar head butts a dude to safety?

I get you, this does open opportunities for trolling. However, I am willing to give it a chance on the grounds that the potential pros could outway the cons.

Remember bard's ult? People thought that was troll bait at first, but given time it came to be respected as a playmaker (when used right of course, :P).

i mean yeah this could be make a good play maker but A. with kalista that is her ult (long cd) and you can only pull one person B tahm has to be in that super tiny range to eat an ally, while blitz its his q on a realitive tiny cd and long range, so its much easier to troll with that and its prone to accidents as well imagine you try to hook the enemy adc and ez or someone with a blink spell like that blinks infront of it by accident

It's hard to say. Unless this change were actually tested (pbe or not), we wouldn't know if it would work or not.

I know I'm guilty of pulling enemies as a Blitzcrank, and it making the skill shots my allies shoot miss. Misplays happen.

Fair point on the q being more frequent than the examples I mentioned. If a blitz is intentionally trolling, that would become obvious very quickly.

well he would be easier to balance as hooking enemies would be harder with allied minions

Wow, i didn't even think about that. I was thinking on the assumption that only allied champions would be affected, and that allied minions would be ignored by it. Can totally see that being a reasonable drawback tho.

If allied minions can get in the way then its power could be buffed.

Sounds like a very bad idea, honestly. Too easy to troll allies by flashing into enemies and pulling someone with you.

What if the person you pull is an amumu or Darius? Free ult or gapcloser?

Just a thought. Your concern is legitimate tho.

Then play Thresh.

Then play Thresh.

^ this... he basically does the same thing as blitz and has an ally pull ability too.. its called his lantern

I understand Thresh's kit, friend. No need to be patronizing.

There are a number of ways to troll your team. A troll is going to troll no matter what. It doesn't matter what tools they have to do so.

if it were implemented from the beginning then it wouldn't be an issue but now it would be because the game has become synonymous for trolling

I'm willing to take the risk, I guess. I have faith in humanity (pls don't judge).

People are going to say this is trolling as if blitz can't already troll by pulling enemy tanks into your backline. Let trollers troll and bronzies bronze.

Most tanks have engages built in their kits. It's usually not a bad thing to pull a tank since you can just kill them easier.

Let Blitzcrank pull allied minions and heroes maybe he will take skill :^)

Why would you want to give him this over losing damage? They'd likely lower or remove his E double AD physical damage which would ruin fistcrank. Sure it could be used to save allies but we have enough of that and Blitzcrank is already a really good champion. He's almost always a top support.
