How to improve tank champions for a healtier gameplay

Hi,

I always see complains about tanks doing too much damage (malphite can solo a vayne full build) or being too much squishy due to item\skill stats

I think a tank should be almost immortal and bring some cc, in exchange to really low dmg.

A pretty nice solution would be to buff tanks resistances trough skills or items (think like items that offer % total damage redution) and reducing their base and ratios damage, lowering cooldown too in order to let them cc more often.

Maybe items that offer more resistances the lower the AD\AP are, to avoid juggernauts or any damage dealer to build them.

Example (IRON PLATE: 500 Health + 10 Cdr + 50 % damage reduction, -10% per 20 bonus Ad\50 bonus ap) maybe seems strong, but you have to consider lower base damage on every tank champion skills to be reworked.

It's pretty sad to see a tank kill a squishy alone, either an adc or fighter melting a tank.

Riot is pushing champions identity more in last years through reworks and new concepts, this can be a chance to follow this route in a good way.

For example think about Amumu\Sejuani ults and ccs that do very little dmg but at the same time they can't be killed.

Basically tanks to have more a support gameplay (and still be annoying) rather than raw damage.

What you guys (and Riot) think about it?

This would mean carries need absolutely perfect positioning since Tanks are no longer a threat. Carries can now ignore enemy tanks... except for CC which goes on cooldown.

All characters need to do X amount of damage in order to be fun, participate in "laning game", be able to farm and generally not get zerged by anybody with a bit of damage and life-steal.

What you are proposing is for tanks to be not fun, to have no kill pressure whatsoever on opponents, leading to opponents always winning lane and always taking towers, to have no pushing power and generally no "game-play fantasy".

now i am definitely somewhat opposed to the idea of hecarim going "lol was there a carry here?" 24/7. But he still needs to be able to do that... if not as reliably. Otherwise he doesn't have any justification as a playable character.

EDIT: what i mean to say is that if X can't, under circumstances reasonably attainable in most games, go ham and absolutely murder someone, than X has no justification to exist as a character in the game. And that is true for mages, assassins, bruisers, duelists, ADCs and even supports.

Tanks are fine. If someone dives in 1v5 stupidly, they deserve to die for it.
