Champion VU + VO updates

Are we ever gonna get just visual and voice over updates for champions without it being part of a VGU? Some champions have decent kits and don't really need a full VGU, however their character models and voice lines are extremely outdated. In the past Riot has updated few character models without actually giving the champion a gameplay update (Sona, Maokai).

Karthus is a perfect example of a champion that got a great visual/voice over update without getting gameplay changes. I think these kinds of visual updates would make some champions feel awesome (since they already have quite interesting kits).

Caitlyn Leblanc Talon Riven need new visuals + VO Veigar Zilean Skarner Jax possible VGU? If not, then new visuals + VO

Just looking at how much work Riot puts on some of their skins for champions who have outdated models for their base skin makes me sad. http://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/2017/07/animating-order-and-chaos/

Compare base Riven to her newest skin. Imagine if Riot put all that energy into making base Riven look modern.

I already talked to Rioters on the matter. It seems right now the overall satisfaction with just doing Visual Update with no gameplay is low. They have no desire to do it going forward and would rather just focus on VGU or GU.

Kinda weird. One would guess the overall modernization of the game would be more important than satisfaction that only lasts for few days.

I mean some of these champions already got their fair share of changes a while back and they sit in a reasonable spot gameplay wise. So we are just waiting here until Riot is done with their 20+ champion VGUs before we get new visuals and VO for these champions who truly need them.

I can't obviously speak for everyone but for me the Karthus visual + VO update was freaking awesome. Definitely worth the time to get rid of his old model.

I'm not saying Riot should prioritize VU + VO updates over VGUs, rather just make some room for them in the middle of all the other work. League is starting to fill up with champions, maybe slow down the pace of releasing new champions and relocate resources to VU + VO work.

I completely agree. Riot just doesn't see it that way however. It is odd because if we didn't get VUs then Sivir would still be a stiff board, Twitch would still be a potato, Sej would still be a bikini-clad warrior, etc. They cited updates like MF or Ali as proof they didn't even get much noticed when in reality they were just not up to the same level as some of the amazing VUs we have gotten.

Caitlyn or Lee are great examples of champions that could benefit from a VU but won't likely see one in years just due to the nature of things. It's sad but unless Riot creates a all new team, we will likely not see VUs anytime soon.

Now ask yourself: How much money would they make doing that? They aren't making big changes that they can hype up, and no more people than usual are going to play the champ, so why would they even bother? Just spending money with no return.

Gotta think like a greedy F2P CEO.

Well updating old models and specifically skins will probably make some people buy those skins.

But with that mentality you could ask what's the point in VGUs? Riot won't benefit from them financially either other than the skins being more attractive on a healthier champion.

Riot has a separate skins team that constantly provides income for the company.

No, see, a VGU is basically releasing a new champ. It gets people all hyped up, and people who didn't play the champ before might throw RP for it. They also release all the legacy skins with the champ, and all the FOTM kiddies will shell out money for those too.

And it doesn't matter if they constantly have income. When you're a greedy asshole, you milk every fucking penny you can, even if it means throwing quality away.

What about kass. His splash is ok but his model has a really strange skin color as if he is on meth.
