I am playing my placement games right now and I see that most of it is smurfs and good players. Even in normal I played teemo top and usually lost because there are very few champs teemo is good against. Do you think teemo would be better mid? Or should I just not use teemo and choose a different champ all together? I have akali who is fun. What do you think?

1 is masters as Teemo with on hit Teemo jungle.

no, no teemo mid or top or adc, pick someone better or stronger. Try champion.gg, it gives goo dstats on whose strong and whose not, although this is for plat+ player but if you realize how they do it then you can draw upon the power of the op picks.
teemo is amazing against a select few champs and in a couple comps. If you have a cc oriented tank jg and supports hes fine. there are diamond teemo mains. You just dont want to play ranked if all you know is teemo.

He is a top laner,
He is best built tanky.
I have rarely lost to a Teemo tbh, its like a 4.5 VS 5 when there is a teemo in a game. No teamfight utility, only good in lane against some champions and his traps are easily countered. Plus, all of his damage is single target but his shroom.
