What champion should I buy if I am starting out?

I am a beginner with over 3000 IP. I play with ashe all the time and I want to change it up. I am thinking a support champion, but I also mainly want a tank. I was thinking blitz? Is he very good? I will soon have enough IP to get him (one game) so should I buy him? Or is there someone else I should get? Thanks for the help.

Also I don't want one of those bad 450 IP champs because Ashe outperforms all of them.

Blitzcrank is good at early levels and low ELO but only because your opponents are idiots. He's very one dimensional. If he doesn't snowball his ADC then he falls off hard late game once his burst doesn't finish off his targets. Or if he grabs the wrong person into his team (like Amumu or Galio).

Not all the 450 IP champions are worthless. That's a superstition. They are generally simpler but simple does not always equate to weak.

If you want an assassin Master Yi is a strong pick who, if you're a good player, can win a game very quickly and turn a game around with the press of a button. But if you are genuinely new then you may not be able to pull off such extreme turn-arounds but you need practice to get to that point. So why not start now?

If you want a more bruiser type champion then Garen is the another 450 champion who isn't bad. He's idiot proof in how simple he is and even if built full tank does considerable damage. Plus learning him is halfway to learning Darius so it makes your next transition to Darius, who is more immobile but hits harder than Garen, much easier to make.

Mages you want Morgana or Lux. Like Darius and Garen Lux and Morgana resemble one another slightly so easy transitioning. Lux teaches aiming with her skill shots and Morgana's pool makes last hitting a non-issue which allows even bad players to get decent CS with means more gold which means better items sooner which means a more positive gaming experience. But Annie who is 450 is the easiest champ in the game.

Supports I would say Soraka is your best bet. She is a walking ambulance. You won't do damage which can get boring but if you have no problem with that and take more enjoyment out of making sure teammates don't die then you may like her.

ADCs you got Sivir or Tristana or Miss Fortune or Corki in your price range. Miss Fortune or Corki are probably the simplest to play as.

While not a tank, Morgana was my first main. Real easy to play and pretty satisfying. P:

Warwick Garen Caitlyn Leona Blitzcrank Lux Malzahar Brand Pantheon Ryze Soraka Trundle Tryndamere TwistedFate Ziggs Volibear MasterYi Amumu Ashe Alistar

All of these champs have fairly simple kits with limited mechanics to learn, so very friendly for new players. If I had to propose one champ for every position, I would say:

Top: Garen Jungle: Warwick mid: Malzahar Bot: Ashe Support: Blitzcrank

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these are dumby proof and freelo champs, but the learning curve is simple.

Good luck!

Of all the 450 champs Ashe is on low end. Sivir, Garen, Master Yi, Amumu, Annie, Soraka, Poppy, and Kayle are all great champions. Ryze, Warwick, and Nunu can be good as well. Don't think that just because a champion is cheaper that they're bad.

For 3000 ip or less I'll give you a list of good choices for tank champions.
Tank supports: Alistar, Blitzcrank, and Taric are the only tanky traditional supports for that price and are all good champions. Tank non-supports: Garen, Amumu, Poppy, Rammus, Sion, Nasus, Dr. Mundo, Cho'Gath, and Malphite are good champions. Cho'Gath and Malphite CAN be used as tank supports as well, although they don't usually perform as well as the traditional supports, and all the non-supports I've listed (other than Garen and Nasus somewhat) can be used in the jungle if that is something you're interested in.

Where you are right now you should try all the roles out but here is a low down.

Top: usually a tankier player who plays a bruiser(Darius, ekko, nasus, garen, renekton, poppy etc..) or full tank ( malphite, mundo, maokai, etc..). Do a lot of damage over time or just be annoying

Mid: Usually a carry role. Assassins and high burst mages go here(ahri, talon, zed, xerath, ziggs, etc..). Go this route if you want a huge impact on your team

Jungle: can solo carry games or feed just team kills. Easy if you hate CSing. (Shaco,Eve, sej, udyr, fiddilsticks, yi, etc..). This role can't turn a game by securing objectives or really good ganks.

Adc: end game carry really. Usually does the most damage but is the most vulnerable. (Cait, kogma, graves, ezeral, Lucian etc..) you can solo carry hard at this role if you are good

Support: the adc and your teams bitch. Considered a ward, used as a tool( you sacrifice yourself to the adc), and usually the major shot caller in the pros. (Blitz, naut, thresh<---- most popular, Janna, sona, etc..) you carry your adc to late game.

The new Taric is probably the best support in terms of IP investment. Alistar is a close second because of how useful his ultimate is as a cleanse and dmg reduction. He was also made easier to play recently (you can buffer his W+Q combo) if that's a concern.

Two higher investment tank supports are Leona, Tahm Kench, and Braum. Leona is great if you want to play offensively, Braum is good for defensive lanes and counterengage, and Tahm Kench provides a mixture of aggression and defensive capabilities.

Poppy can be played as a support as well (and she's less expensive) but she's overall more useful in the top lane.
