Items Specific to "Classes"

Considering the issues of balance that we're currently having with 'Tanky Assasins' and the like, why doesn't League adopt a similar itemization policy to most RPGs.

That is, customize build paths to particular types of champions? That is, not every 'tank' can wield X sword or every 'assassin' can wield Y armor.

We already do have a few items that follow this logic (jg items), why not expand it a little to help with this issue? Otherwise, it seems the end result will be the death of the assassin role (maybe that's good?).

Actually we have a series of items that require a summoner to be smite, which does not have to be limited to the jungler.

Indeed but the opportunity cost of picking smite vs another summoner spell and the itemization itself tilts strongly toward the jungle role.

I think it's possible to generate similar constraints for other 'classes'.

thats actually a good idea, the only way to balance league atm.

Actually i think it's the best idea right now. we have assassin that buy tank items, adc that buy bruiser items, apc that buy support items, tank that buy dmg items , wtf happening !!!

It ruins one of the key things in league, customization.

How? You can still produce a wide variety of customization within a specific role.

In fact, given more clearly defined constraints you can IMPROVE customization.

If you deny the freedom for someone like Sion to build item 3031 then I think there might be a problem. Even if the item is a terrible option, it is still an option for people to go with.

Course, I could be not understanding the intended goal. I am tired and messing up final papers can do that.
