PSA: Assists are important too (and other stats besides)

Parceval·7/10/2017, 12:43:10 AM·46 votes·2,258 views

Why do people ignore assists? Far too often I hear, in situations (where the team wins, especially) like: Jungler: 2-3-15 Sup: 0-5-20

"Hey jungler, you're so bad, you went negative" "Sup, stop feeding, look at your score"

Not to mention so many OTHER factors besides kda alone.

Seriously, I'm so tired of people not taking into account the whole game. It's ridiculous. And just plain tilty.

Teammates:

"Report this inting noob 1/7 Janna"

Correction:

"Honor this helpful 1/7/22 Janna"

15/0/3 Vayne "F'ing noob. Stop feeding!" 0/6/16 Braum "Seriously!?"

I agree. Another one I hear a lot of crap about is "Dude, you only did 6k damage to champions, you suck"... while ignoring that I did almost 40k damage to objectives.

I'm sorry, you didn't want that rift herald, five dragons, and baron? I guess I should get more kills instead. Or I should only have a vision score of ~10 as a jg instead of the 30-50 i usually have.

It's important to understand that when people begin to get angry/rude/whatever, people will patronize in ANY way. That's one of several reason why people in-game would choose to ignore the assist score. I'm sure many more people understand and agree with you. ^.^

It's like twisting words. D=

What happens - You died. What your teammate may type no matter how you die - Why you int? (intentionally feeding)

Also, you do not have to use score, or be bothered by it in arguments. This mostly serves for selfish reasons only, and have no place for discussion IN-GAME. When a person use score as a main topic/reason, a person can only "win" the argument if you share the same logic/belief. Only problem is, when people starts to get emotional in-game, their logic/belief changes based on their positions (do I have the good score, or do I have the bad score).

EX: If I had the good score, I'll just say this person is feeding and is trash. If I had the bad score, I'll just say lag, or (my/our/their/your) jungler doesn't gank, my support sucks, this one's a smurf, etc.

90% of the time if you look at the KDR humpers they're always playing some punisher/assassin character and trying to cheese out kills regardless of success. The game is obviously a team game about objectives to most people but some people only care about how much blood you spilt even if its easier to set up kills as a squad. These often are the same people that'll be like "LOL TAKES 4 TO KILL ME" while overextending. smh

jyl127/10/2017, 4:21:44 PM2 votes

just look at damage charts and objective control thats what matters

Just KDA in general. Singed420 has less than 2 kda on a champion on who he has more than 2M mastery.

agbudar7/10/2017, 7:29:10 PM1 votes

when you go 0/5/30 and your kda is 4 times higher then your adc... and they bitch about you feeding.

iamthegoatofwar7/10/2017, 7:29:18 PM1 votes

This shit is why I play brand sup and take the kills from my ADC.

Tobias Brackner7/10/2017, 7:34:50 PM1 votes

This also goes for Marksmen/carries being salty over no kills.

I've played plenty of games where the carry was racking up assists like crazy. That with farm gave plenty of gold to buy the big items.

PSA: stats are just stats, and shouldnt be taken too seriously out of context.

{quoted}

Jungler: 2-3-15

"Hey jungler, you're so bad, you went negative"

Jungler - "I'm 2-3-15! I have a couple kills and a ton of assists! That isnt bad!"

Reality - its a jungle Jarvan. The only kills he got were after his team did most of the damage and all he did was ult, while a lot of his assists were from the flag aura after missing his entire combo.

I had like 4 assists in my last support game as Trundle, but I got SO many kills for my team blocking people with pillar alone that it would have been more like 14 easy (dunno why you can't get assists with it. Kind of lame).

Had someone trash talking me cause I took a kill by accident, saying I only had 4 assists, and my mid talon actually stood up for me saying "Hey, dude has gotten me like 6 of my kills with pillar, he's doing just fine". Felt pretty good. Kills aren't all that matters in a game.

Shonjl7/10/2017, 1:24:25 AM1 votes

It depends on the champ is why. IF your Jungle example is Sejuani, she doesn't usually get kills so if she is say 2/5/20 that is an amazing score on her.

If you are playing Kha zix, Lee, Vi, WW, Heca and other similar junglers, that is completely awful. You don't want assists on them. A 7/0 Kha Zix is terrifying, a 0/0/14 Kha Zix isn't scary in the slightest even though it should be roughly the same gold.

Supports are meant to only have assists since in a perfect world, the ADC should get all the kills. So technically a 0/0/20 support is the best possible outcome ever. Even if you are a kill support its still kinda bad if they have all the kills. A Brand that is 8/0 is scary sure, but when the ADC with him is 0/8 thats bad. He failed as a support. In reality she should have split the love if possible.

Assist are important but they aren't as valuable as kills, its the reason they are also worth less.

Personally how much money you should get should be based on how much you did for that kill. If you last hit kill stealed then you shouldn't get the full 300 since you didn't help out much, likewise if you are Raka and healed someone randomly to get an assist, it should be a low gold assist. That why it would reward people for putting a lot of work in. Say the support did 90% of the work for a kill, they should in theory get most of the gold for the kill and not the one that got the kill.

InivtesPreeze7/10/2017, 11:59:58 AM1 votes

Jungler who is 2-5-0 telling the ADC who is 2-1-10 who also placed 15 more wards than them, that he's bad/useless. (Because they're plat and anyone below that is worthless to them)

Vision wins games, not trash running around solo queue trying to play team deathmatch.

Haven't heard that in a long time

Nice username! Is that a reference to Ready Player One?

Professor Ward7/10/2017, 4:07:17 PM1 votes

as a support main my ultimate goal is the 0/0/20 and more realistically the 0/2/10 or less

Placing emphasis on dying less before assists and kills has put me on a play flex team in a season `

Junkο7/10/2017, 4:21:13 PM1 votes

Kills and assists should be a fused stat just to shut up those 10 year old kids who think K-D is the only thing that matters.
