so my smite gives no assist

i just casted my skirmisher sabre smite on a hecarim who was going to commit a sucide (he got hit first by a teammate of mine) my teammate got the kill and i didn't get nothing.

is this a bug? did i really waste a 15 seconds (AT THE LEAST) up to a potential 65 seconds for nothing? this is just not fair

i hope that this is a bug and i strongly hope to see it being fixed

You have to damage the person or shield or heal your teammate who got the kill to get the assist

he just didnt compete into that kill

smite should do 1 damage, so it functions like pillars of ice (who by the way do 1 damage, to attract turret aggro, and able to grant assists)
