Diana the Fighter

I noticed Diana is under the Fighter Tab when you search her up in game and not under the Assassin Tab. But I've only ever seen people build her Full Damage like an Assassin, so I was wondering do people actually play her like a Bruiser/Fighter? And if so is it any good? I enjoy Diana and her potential to just blow up helpless carries, I just always assumed she was an Assassin!

I think her role is best defined as Diver since she lacks the escapes that assassins generally have.

Her kit is that of someone who would want to get into the thick of things. it's just because of her damage ratios and targeted mobility that she is built as an assassin.

Other Divers include Noct and Rengar, is Diver just another term for an Assassin that actually can Assassinate targets? cuz those guys build full damage and kill carries in like 2-3 hits like real Assassins should!

Here is the dev blog on the topic:

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/dev-blog-classes-subclasses

here's the direct quote of the section on Divers:

Divers are the more mobile portion of the Fighter class. Divers excel at singling out high-priority targets to blitz toward, immediately forcing those targets (and their teammates) to deal with the diver’s presence. Divers are not as durable as the tanks or juggernauts of the world, but Divers can take their fair share of punishment while bringing enough damage to be a real kill threat if left unchecked.

Actually since you brought that post up, it also says:

" In the past (and still true today), application of these classes was heavily influenced by the fantasy and thematics of the individual champion rather than their actual function in the game (hi Blitzcrank)"

So diana is listed as a fighter because of her lore then right?

Diana has skills in her kit for survivability and AoE CC. That is very much the kit of a diver, a champion who's purpose is to get into the middle of the fight and wreak havoc, rather than just dive in and then escape after eliminating a high priority target like an assassin would.

DIana as an assassin is very feast or famine. She either succeeds, or fails. There is no room for error, and if she is overtuned or if she snowballs then she just wrecks with little room for counterplay. On the other hand if she does not get the snowball rolling, she becomes underwhelming and struggles to be successful because she lacks the escape tools to get out after her assassination attempt fails.

Almost no bruisers are particularly good right now. Hope that changes in 7.21

seems even more odd considering ekko is classified as an assassin but diana isnt
