Off - Meta Picks

I am quite tired of the mentality that just because you or someone else is playing a champion not in the current meta, they must be trolling. Then, you get the group ganging up on you and reporting you. Most recent example, Singed support. League is a video game, that is it. If someone wants to play singed as support, then by all means do so. If he/she is not deliberately not trying to feed, but play the game, then the players who reported him should be receiving the punishment honestly.

Lol has gone through several changes and continues to do so through every patch. Not every game is 1/1/3 (top mid, adc, support, jung). Sometimes there are lane swaps, duo junglers (as in the jung has help) etc. Strategy is always changing, and this is a video game. You should be able to do as you wish, as long as you are not trying to feed.

I like playing Teemo jungle, and get crap all day long first for playing Teemo, then because I'm in the jungle. I may suck at this game, but there are players out there Diamond + who play teemo jungle. Not even bothering to let me play, players on my own team make up there mind in champ select, tilt and continue to be verbal abusive and troll.

In my mind you can play whatever champ in whatever role, as long as you are trying and having fun. Has this become a dictatorship where we must play the meta or be banned? Are we only allowed to play the 20 or so champs selected in Worlds because they are the meta?

You guys are more than welcome to jump on the Hate Teemo bandwagon, I just play for fun and don't mind.

As long as you don't screw around with ranked, no one will really care.

Their reports got no effects, dude. You can't be banned for picking what you want if you are not trolling. Just mute these guys, that probably don't have the intellectual capacity to understand your point. You can report them too, since verbal abuse is a valid reason to report someone.

Why do I keep jumping into these threads?

I swear my nose is going to start bleeding.

The issue that Riot had with the Support Singed situation has a lot more to do with the fact that he was pretty much forcing his pick on his team regardless of their attempts to convince him to stick with a conventional one.

Picking Singed, going to the bottom lane, and doing all of the things that normal supports do, is not at all what he did.

He immediately went to the enemy's jungle for a cheese invade and did everything he could to put the enemy jungler behind without dying, and if possible he would roam top or mid for an early gank. He would then make his way to bottom lane and stay for a little while, but not always for very long. He was honestly playing a second jungle.

Again, this is not necessarily a "bad" strategy, and it did sometimes work really well, but it is so unusual that his team was not even prepared for it.

Also, this whole time his ADC is getting harassed, shoved in, and dove in a 1v2 bottom lane. This often lead to turning over first blood, first tower, and an early lost lane.

So this gives the enemy team a gold lead and an advantage over dragon control.

His team's ADC is also behind and underfed.

You should be able to imagine that his team would be pinging and requesting for him to stick bottom lane and support the ADC, but he would ignore them.

So again, it is not just a matter of him taking an off meta pick. He was playing in a way that alienated his own teammates and would refuse to cooperate.

Oh, and this wasn't just a few matches. Riot received hundreds of reports for the same behavior over many many games.

They did determine that he was genuinely attempting to win, but they slapped his wrist with a 14 day suspension for poor cooperation.

Btw, like your name. lol

For the last time, it had nothing to do with picking Singed.

The guy queued as support but then bought item 1039 and proceeded to jungle, taking his own jungler's camps.

Taking another player's lane is a bannable offense, regardless of who your champion is or what specific position you queued as. And that's not even touching on all the other things he did.

Same, my summoner name is Halo themed as well, but nobody ever gets it.

I have used this same handle since around the time that Halo 2 came out, which was before the games mentioned the forerunners, but I remember reading about them in the novels. .. So nobody got it lol.

As for off meta picks. I love playing off meta champions.

I definitely think that there is a time and a place for them though.

Understanding that they have strengths and weaknesses that your team should be aware of and on board with is definitely important when trying to do something like this in a ranked game.
